Another Snowy Sunday

Mathews County received more snow this weekend, but the picture above is not reflective of that.

I took this a couple of summers ago on my last camping adventure to Cherrystone over on the Eastern Shore, approximately 15 miles directly across the bay from Mathews. Or thereabouts.

Each and every sunset there was spectacular.

This weekend here on the western shore, it snowed all day Friday. Friday night it poured down raining and the wind howled the entire time. Saturday morning all the snow was pretty much gone. Then it started snowing again and that continued through Saturday night.

Today I hope to get out and take some pictures, but for now I'm just sharing a reminder that winter doesn't last forever, and the Amazon-like heat and humidity accompanied by mosquitoes the size of vultures warmth of the summer sun will be here before you know it.

Ahh, those Mathews summers... where the sun is mercilessly hot and the humidity is so high it feels like a wet wool blanket. LOL!!!!

But despite that, I wouldn't trade it for all the gold in Fort Knox! :-)

I can wait for summer. Seriously. I can't stand the humidity and much prefer the snow actually!

Love that shot! Ah well, hopefully it won't snow forever, but then again, when your snow stops we'll start getting colder down here.. And I don't relish the prospect, it's been such a mild summer as it is.

I don't think our 30" of snow is going to melt before June. I mean how could it? It is EVERYWHERE.

Posting a video & pics later on today...

MM, are you certain the ghost is a "she"?

BEAUTIFUL picture. Yes, warm weather will return. And groundhog or no, I hope it's sooner than later.

M Mark,

I think you should use a traditional ghost name

Dusana: Feminine form of Czech Dusan, meaning soul, spirit

And in case Meg is correct, lol!

Dusa: Czech unisex pet form of masculine Dusan and feminine Dusana, meaning soul, spirit

Meg and Marie from NJ, all along I have been laughing to myself thinking, and what if the "she" spirit is a "he"!

maria from nj said...

Yes ghostless, for the most part we romanticize these oddities. If it had been a destructive visitor (like the subway entities in the movie 'Ghost') I guess we all would have thought 'he' first. Let's see what it turns out to be.

He may not be sure if it is a she or not... but I am fairly confident...
confident enough that I wouldn't give it a boys name...

WV synedial MM could actually be synedial that the ghost is really a very girly boy!

OK, everybody. Get ready for a Name that Ghost Contest on Monday. Perhaps we should have everyone submit an entry for a male as well as a female.

Anyway, it has been a beautiful day here, and I'm only sorry it's going to be ruined by the arrival of Monday tomorrow. We didn't get enough snow to shut down the paying job, so I'll be slipping and sliding down the Colonial Parkway at o'dark thirty, guzzling coffee the entire ride and praying to win the lottery or hit it big with the Blog Fest movie or the Mathews reality TV show.

Enjoy the remains of the day and the weekend.
