Three Things

Aaron's Beach, December 2010

Welcome to Thursday, the day of the week where we share three things, however boring and mundane random they appear to be.

I'll begin.

1. Yesterday I received reassurance from my publisher that,  in spite of all my inner voices internal debates to the contrary, disaster was not imminent regarding this book I'm working on.

Before yesterday,  I was thinking I might have to start over (after hours and months of work) because of a technical glitch in my scanning process. Instead of freaking out over what I thought was a major error, I just acknowledged there might be a problem, hoped for the best and denied the worst until I heard for sure what the outcome would be.

I visualized tossing a great big bag of Burden upwards towards the sky and walking away from it.  I told myself I wasn't going to worry about it until there was a reason to.  Yesterday at work I received a telephone call saying there was no reason to.

Amen. Hallelujah. Oh yeah. Word. Finest kind.  I heard that. Yes. Thank you, thank you, Powers That Be.

2.  My father's 70th birthday party is this weekend, and the entire Chesapeake Bay Family is getting scared gearing up.  Anyone reading is welcome to join in the festivities.  Although I don't expect it to be a huge party, mostly neighbors and a few friends,  I guarantee you'll have a good time.  This family, aside from being experts at wreaking havoc and attracting disasters, is also more fun than a barrel of monkeys.

(Speaking of disasters, havoc and chaos, click here if you have not yet read about the recent episode involving Gustav.)

Please join us if you can and help us celebrate this very special occasion.

3.  Temperatures reached the fifties yesterday, and it felt like a tropical paradise minus the paradise.  I cannot wait for sustained periods of sunshine and warmer days so I can walk/exercise outdoors more regularly.  I've been on strike for the past several weeks, and that combined with the dreary days create a hormonal state mood known as "I'm feeling less-than-princess-like so whatever you do, don't look at me cross-eyed."

Now it's your turn.

Thanks, as always, for participating.

  1. 1. I won't be coming to Virginia for the party, but do wish your father all the best from me.
    2. Dick is going to be away for a few days and I am the designated dog-walker. Lindy is going to have to get used to walking to the post office, and maybe back, tomorrow and Friday, and perhaps nowhere Saturday and Sunday.
    3. I'm supposed to go to a funeral on Friday. I have a dreadful headache and the sniffles. I don't think I should go and risk infecting the living members of the congregation. Or not.

  4. 1. Glad there is no major issue with the book and hope ya'll have a great party. I had thoughts of driving down but the impending snow here and (of course) a basketball game tomorrow made me rethink that.

    2. Today I might actually follow through with the threat of tossing the computer out the 2nd story window here at work. The resulting crash would be quite empowering for many reasons.

    3. Doing a mail merge of 1600 letters is a pain. It's even more of a pain when you're having issues that you don't know how to fix and you're running out of time to get it done and you're worried you're giong to have to start over from the beginning (we'retalking 2 weeks of work)

...there's no place like Bora Bora, there's no place like Bora Bora

  5. 1. Wish I could be there this weekend - tip your wine glass on my behalf in honor of CB Dad's big seven-oh!

    2. Instead, I have finally booked a spa visits to use up these two gift certificates (one of which I received on Mother's Day, ahem) that are burning a hole in my wallet. Hellll-oooo, relaxing massage and a fresh new 'do.

    3. and of course after that I will be frantically catching up on work that I did not do this week owing to the holiday (Monday) and ice (Tuesday). I have lots of things to get done and it's crunch time. Because nothing says "fun" like working on a Saturday. GAH.

WV is "grande" and if that isn't a sign I should stop at Starbucks on the way to work than frankly, I don't know what is.

  6. Looking forward to this weekend! ETA for Mathews is approximately 330pm tomorrow or so....

Working now so that I can sneak away in an hour and play a tennis match. Won a crazy tough match last night with my doubles partner....tie break in the third set. Fun!

Can't wait to sign off from work tonight for another long weekend!

See you, Gustav and the rest of the clan soon,

    Middle Sis

    2. It is once again snowing, so we spent the evening looking for beach vacations - our children (grown) disagree on location. If there is sun, sand, and water it would be all good for me!

  12. 1. I wish I could be there to say Happy Birthday to your dad! But because I can't, I figured it was as good a reason as any to have a wee party of our own...it was either that or celebrate yet another incoming snowstorm. I might even bake a cake in honor of your dad!

    2. I'm going back to blonde. Yep, already tired of the brunette...again.

    3. I am not entirely sure I am going to be able to patiently wait until the end of February to find out what Meg is having. So perhaps I'll have a few glasses of wine with that cake I'm baking...in your dad's honor of course!

Thanks for reading and thanks for leaving a comment. I thoroughly enjoy hearing what you have to say even if I don't always have a chance to respond personally.
