At some point before Christmas, I drove to Williams Wharf, parked the car and went for a four-mile run.
Afterwards, I took a few pictures of the old railway, which is always so photogenic.
The pictures below were taken the Friday after Christmas, when Middle Sister and I drove to Williams Wharf for some post-feeding-frenzy exercise.
Much to my surprise, the old railway was gone.
There is a major construction project underway, and part of that construction included the destruction of the railway.
For more information on Williams Wharf that contains a picture of the original railway, click here.
For more information on the new construction project, click here.
If you're sad to see the old railway go, click here for a post I wrote back in 2011 bemoaning the loss of the old boathouse. There are more pictures of the railway, too.
Happy New Year's Eve.
oh thats sad .. lets hope the new project has even an nth as much charm as the old railway had .. happy new year!!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI find it a bit ironic that the Land Conservancy page is not talking much about conservation but instead about a multistory building with many functions, including event facilities from which to enjoy regattas on the river...that should do wonders for the area wildlife.
ReplyDeleteNonetheless, the future hurtles toward us...and I wish you and your family a wonderful 2015 !
