Soybeans

Yesterday I had the whole day to myself, so I napped all day drove around taking pictures. Then I napped the rest of the day.

These soybean fields are down the Glebe. I've photographed the field and structures above before, but I don't recall the buildings having that pinkish hue. They were a deeper red.

Trying to get the perfect shot while musing over the pinkish buildings, I noticed a couple walking towards me. Even though I was in the middle of the road and they were probably on their daily stroll, I felt like I was trespassing uncomfortable, so I got back in the car and drove away. It's a shame, too, because that field was gorgeous, and this is the only photo I took.

Below are two shots of a nearby field. Nothing too spectacular about the content other than I just love the green.

Soybeans are my favorite crop around here, not that there are many crops to choose from. They're so much prettier, I think, than a field of corn.

From now on, whenever I think of a field of corn, I will always think of Country Girl Kate. There was a little incident at Blog Fest involving an emergency pit stop in a corn field. Perhaps later on after I stop laughing I'll tell the full story. Hi, Kate!

In the mean time, have a great Sunday, and happy August.

  1. There are soybean farmers around here, but I don't remember their crops looking so lush as Virginia soybeans. I keep showing people photos and saying, "and they DON'T HAVE TO IRRIGATE! Can you imagine?!" I've become a social pariah over the irrigation issue.

Happy Sunday. Looks like another great night for a boat ride.

  4. We only have soybeans and corn too. Oh, and some wheat and hay occasionally. I love the hay fields when they first sprout...so green!

  5. Foolery-No irrigationg here, but as a result the corn crops are suffering this summer due to the drought and excessive heat. The soybeans don't seem to mind one bit, though.

KL- Yes, I would love to get closer. Maybe Friday I can get down there. thank you!

These Nine Acres-The hay fields are beautiful, we have a few as well.

I cannot believe it is August already. One blink and it'll be Christmas again.

  6. I like the lush green fields too. Mostly corn and hay around here...yesterday we had alien weather! Temp in the 70's and low humidity. Hope the aliens like it around here and stay for a few days,
    Happy August!!

Thanks for reading and thanks for leaving a comment. I thoroughly enjoy hearing what you have to say even if I don't always have a chance to respond personally.
