Three Things

Welcome to what used to be called Three Thing Thursday back when I posted on a more regular basis. The last time I posted on a Thursday was May 19, which is a sure-fire sign that things have been busy around here, to say the least.  Three Thing Thursday is where I share the three ring circus that is my life three things, and so do you.  Whatever happens to be on your mind. Anything at all.

Even if what you're thinking is, "Will CBW ever actually move this blog post along or is she going to lull us to sleep as she drags out this opening paragraph from here to the Cape of Good Hope Cape Charles and back?"

I'll go first.

1. Last night marked the first time I've ever arrived at a sports banquet--or any banquet, or any school related function of any sort for that matter--in a canoe.  Yes, Chesapeake Bay Son's end of the year soccer banquet was held at his teammate's house, which happens to be across the creek from us.  CB Son, delicately balancing the family's contribution of fruit salad and Pepsi Colas, took a kayak. Daughter and I took the canoe.  We ate, we clapped, we laughed and we ate some more.  Then we hopped in our boats and paddled back home.  Now that's my kind of sports banquet. Not one minute wasted behind the wheel of a car and not one drop of gasoline used.

2.  Oh, do I have a story to tell!  Remember a while back when I referenced a mysterious package left for me at Sandpiper Reef in Hallieford?  Well, over the past week the mystery behind who left that has slowly unfolded, and the entire story fills my heart with joy.  After I survive the next several days I'll work on putting the words down, but rest assured this story --which began over 25 years ago--is one of my favorite Life Stories thus far.

3.  The good Lord willing and the creek don't rise, by this weekend I will send the first draft of the book on Mathews to the editor.  That does not  mean all the work is over, but one huge hurdle has been cleared.  I used to be a pretty good hurdler back in the day but this has been one tough race. Amen.

Now it's your turn to share three things.  Whatever you want.  Anything at all.

Thanks as always for stopping by and leaving your thoughts.  They make my day.

Wow, a canoe and a kayak to a sports banquet (or any banquet) is wonderful. Who knows how many carbon emissions you didn't cause!
1. I'm embarrassed tonight, not because my hometown team didn't win the Stanley Cup but because so-called hockey fans started rioting in the streets of Vancouver after the game. Burning cars, for heaven's sake.
2. For the first time, I'm glad I don't live in British Columbia any more.
3. I never thought I'd ever say what I said in Thing 2.

2. I hope it is all very uneventful.

3. If it is not I may have my butt on the deck this evening at some point.. or even in your canoe. Please disregard me and go about your day.

1. Today is the last day school for the youngin's. Oh joy.

2. I am stressed and it shows itself in my 45 year old pimpled face. What gives? How about weight loss instead, make the stress worthwhile.

3. Stress will kill ya or make you buy Clearasil.

1. I am working on a grant application at work. It's kicking my rear! Remember your last semster of college when you had one FINAL paper to write, and you just KNEW you weren't EVER going to finish the darn thing, and you just KNEW you weren't going to graduate, and you had a meltdown? Yeah. It's like that...

2. I have so many hummingbirds that I had to buy a second feeder!

3. God is GREAT! Beer is good. And people are crazy...

1. I'm still living with my parents. The idyllic commune concept has been completely tossed out the window at this point and I'm moving more towards the lunatic asylum idea. Where we all have padded rooms and new coats that help us hug ourselves and promote self love.

2. I found an awesome house and property to rent with an option to purchase. Why am I not in it you ask? Because the guy in it currently (the one who attempted to con me out of $10K before I uncovered his scam) won't leave. He had last week's hearing continued to tomorrow because now his brother is dying from brain cancer and he is caring for him 24/7 (I see them drinking beer in the driveway in the afternoon...)

3. Luckily I purchased some new batteries for my electronics, I think I'll be licking them instead.

4. Sooo ready to be in Deltaville the weekend of the 2nd! (and the house has a new roof so far, but not flooring yet).

3. Twelve days of temps over 100 degrees and summer isn't even here yet.

Can't wait for the book...I know you are beginning to see daylight.

What a fun way to get to the par-tay!

Think about a weekend here or there once the book is not making you insanely busy ... just think about it. 'k?

1) I played singles this morning and lost. I deserved to lose because I played like a dumb@$$.

2) I have a play-off match (doubles) tomorrow night - my partner and I are in the semi-finals for the Atlanta area in a league, a mixed doubles match Saturday morning and a USTA doubles match on Sunday. I'm sure I'll get my game back tomorrow when I hit with my coach for an hour. It just eats me up that I played like an idiot today.

3) Looking forward to seeing my family in a couple of weeks!!

Love,
Middle Sis

1. I love the bottom photo.
2. And your mode of travel to the sports banquet.
3. And I cannot wait to hear your new story about the package.

Ok, that sounds like a line from Bridesmaids.

1. I spent Friday on my neighbors' sailboat on the West River. LOVE being on boats.

2. I did NOT, however, spend yesterday on the Susquehanna River on my brother-in-law's motorboat, but instead sent my husband, two kids and the dog up to PA while I stayed behind with a kid who had a tummyache.

3. So yes, I missed the party and the fun this weekend, but honestly, this day and a half of unscheduled time is feeling like such a gift.
