This site is about my life growing up and growing older in Mathews County, a rural, water-bound community on the way to nowhere in particular.

Perseverance
After a blissful vacation, the Return to Normal this week was even more difficult due to the start of Daughter's cross country season, which means 6:30 a.m. practices each day, and her in-car portion of Driver's Ed, which runs from 9:00 to 10:30 each day. Orchestrating the logistics of how she gets to and from each of these things when I have to be seated and at a desk at work by 7:30 a.m. 50 miles away has been no small feat. Many, many thanks to my parents and to Daughter's friends who have contributed to this effort.
On top of it all, some other utterly unexpected challenges flung my way left me particularly deflated but not defeated.
In short, it's been a very tough week, but we all survived. And we'll push through.
It will all be fine.
The weekend is here.
I hope yours is wonderful.
