This site is about my life growing up and growing older in Mathews County, a rural, water-bound community on the way to nowhere in particular.

Misty Morn
Last weekend, I glanced out my bedroom window and noticed a haze hovering over Smither Cemetery, across the creek.
Hurry! I said to myself. Grab the camera!
I dutifully obeyed.
The morning fog can be so beautiful.
I snapped several shots, put the camera down, then continued to admire the view.
Then I realized that wasn't fog at all.
My neighbor was just burnin' some leaves.
The End.
p.s. For clarification, the neighbor was not the house off in the distance in these pictures, even though smoke appears to be coming from there in that last one. No, this neighbor is to the right of Smither Cemetery, which is an enchanting waterfront cemetery behind those pine trees.
p.s.s.t. Before I go off on a tangent about Smither Cemetery and believe me I could, please come to the Mathews Christmas Parade on Saturday at 1. I'll be at the Visitor Center (formerly Sibley's General Store) before the parade signing books, chatting with friends, and wondering how I can possibly be old enough to have a teenager going to the Holly Ball--with a date--Saturday night.
Have a fantastic weekend.

Sunrise
Here are a few photos of a recent sunrise on Queens Creek.
Friday and Saturday I worked a total of 18 hours on the side job known as I have absolutely no life the book.
In other news I had a major cardiac event, my laptop is showing signs that it may die on me.
When I say "my laptop" what I really mean is the laptop a friend loaned me since all I own is a very old PC. This is the same laptop on which every single photo for the book is located.
Let's just say it's been a time goin' on around here.
Hope your Sunday is very relaxing and free from unexpected
