Yesterday I referenced a very unique vacation destination right
here in Mathews. It's an island. I'm calling it Paradise Island.
Available for rent.
An island with a house on it.
Available for rent!
The woman at the stern is the lady to talk to if you're interested in renting an eight-bedroom house on two-and-a-half miles of private paradise.
Above, she and her friend had just loaded up the boat with necessities for the weekend and were headed out that way.
A third friend, who ended up getting lost, joined them later.
(It's easy to get lost in Mathews if you're not from here.)
(It's easy to get lost in Mathews even if you're me from here.)
(It's even easier to get lost if you're trying to find a vacation rental that is not attached to the mainland!)
Off they went.
With a dog named Opie. (Opie? I think that was his name.)
I did not get pictures of the old hotel/vacation house, but
you can click here for pictures and details on how to rent it.
I'm thinking this just might have everything I need, namely peace, tranquility and solitude.
Remember, I live in Mathews, which is the very definition of peace, tranquility, and solitude.
I think this place just might be the epitome of everything that Mathews stands for.
My name is Chesapeake Bay Woman, and I endorse this vacation spot even if I've never set foot on the island!

I the Outer Banks Gypsy endorse this vacation spot and HAVE stepped on to it more that one occasion. ;)
One of my favorite spots to be.
Cdub and I were thinking about renting this in the summer. Any takers to go in with us? Also this would make a great spot for the next blogfest...just sayin'!

I want to run away there in the worst way.
Vacation, schmacation. I want to LIVE there. Do they need a permanent caretaker?
Janice, thank you so much for your endorsement! I wish you and Robbie had stopped by. We saw you returning from Wolf Trap and were hoping you'd have fresh drinks ready at the house on our return! I hope to be back down the second week of October. Lets try to connect so you can step foot on The Island at Winter Harbor aka Paradise Island!
Anonymous - Count me in, would love to!
sounds wonderful...remember I did promise you Spring rolls...
I am reading the book "The Water is Wide" by Pat Conroy it is his memoir about his days on Daufuskie Island, South Carolina. Fascinating place...they have some really nice vacation rentals on that island too...
