Oyster Roast

This weekend my friends Glenda and Billy had an oyster roast at their home down Susan.  They have an outdoor structure we fondly call the tabernacle, since it resembles the Mathews historic landmark and is large enough to host a Methodist convention.

The weather was perfect for an outdoor gathering.

Naturally, there were oysters.

But that's not all.  There were also steamed clams, steamed crabs, ribs, burgers, dogs and every possible side dish ever invented.

The very cleverly situated beverage station consisted of a skiff filled with ice and beer.

(I absolutely love this.)

There were some of the usual suspects in attendance.

And more than a few characters running around.

As always, a good time was had by all.

Middle Sister was also in town this weekend for her thirtieth high school reunion.  Baby Sis came to crash Middle Sister's party visit as well.  I got a long jog and a nap or two in between everything else.  In summary, it was a good weekend.

I hope yours was too.

Mine was good - got to enjoy some food & beverages in the gorgeous autumn weather Saturday. It's nice again today, but I'm stuck in an office.

Just shows that Mathews general area can be a happening spot...I love the decorations they had for the party...the menu sounded divine, too.

It's funny that you sometimes say you live in the middle of nowhere--yet you do more truly cool things than most people who live in the big cities. Betsy
