Resting

Here are a few more shots from my favorite public landing.

This old boat has a perfect resting spot.

Much like the remnants of the dock in the background, the boat looks like it's seen better days.

Still, I find them both photogenic.

Speaking of resting, I did a whole lot of that this weekend.  With the exception of Saturday night when we had a nice family gathering to celebrate Son's return home for spring break, I did a whole lot of lollygagging and napping.

The next two weekends I'll be out of town, and lots of driving will be involved.  So I took advantage of Saturday's and Sunday's kind invitation to do nothing and thoroughly relaxed.

It's hard to believe spring is just about here.

Time continues to fly by at break-neck pace.

I hope all is well in your world.

Snow

Mathews County enjoyed an unseasonably warm Saturday this weekend.  It was almost warm enough to cut grass, which--believe it or not--I need to do, courtesy of the crazy weather.

(The grass thinks it's spring.)

So imagine our surprise when this happened--with almost no warning--on Sunday.

Yes, it snowed.

It was a wonderful day to stay inside and nap on and off all day make soup.  However, I also went for a walk while the large, wet flakes were falling to the ground.  I love snow when it's falling.  I'm always saddened when the storm is over and the sun comes out and the world tries to go back to its original self.

We have the day off today, so depending on what the weather does, I hope to get out and about and take some more pictures that aren't from my back yard.

Happy Monday.

Bethel Beach

It's January 14th already?

So much has happened in a few short weeks.

Thankfully, most of it's good.

However, this blog has been woefully neglected.

And that's not good.

Recently I told someone that blogging was exactly like exercise. It only works if you do it regularly.

Last night when I perused available photos to post, there were only these from a December trip to Bethel Beach. And these, while OK, are sort of boring to me.

Especially since they're from so long ago.

So this weekend I'm going to get back on track with napping exercising (which hasn't been easy of late), taking pictures and blogging.

That's my goal, anyway.

Happy Friday.

Court House Scenes

Here are a few shots taken about a week ago from Mathews Court House.

Yes, Mathews has one.

This weekend was rather uneventful, which is not a bad thing, although Friday was very full.  After a long day at work in Williamsburg, I drove to King William for Daughter's soccer game, which they unfortunately lost. I was so exhausted by the time we finally arrived home that I slept through a fox incident that occurred just outside my bedroom.

Evidently the fox was terrorizing my outdoor cats on the balcony outside of my bedroom.  The sounds that come out of this animal can wake the dead, so I'm not sure how I slept through it all.  But Son took our dog outside and scared him off.  All returned to normal. (Whatever that is.)

Saturday I did some yard work.  Saturday evening, after a brief but ferocious storm blew through, Baby Sis joined us for our neighbor's retirement party, which was a blast. Mother's Day Sunday was very calm and very quiet; I slept all day took several naps and watched my favorite movie Pride and Prejudice (the BBC version).  My mother fixed us all a delicious dinner of ginger-coated salmon and one of her world-famous salads.

So, that's it.  A fox, a storm, a visit from Baby Sis, a party, some napping and a great meal.

Not a bad weekend. And now that I think about it, not so uneventful either.

Now it's back to work, where unfortunately they do not condone napping.  Darn it.
