Gratitude

]

*****

Here are more shots from Saturday night's party
thrown by my blog friend Debra.

*****

Today is my daughter's first day of high school.

My son will go to school today, but as soon as he comes home, we will drive to a hotel in Norfolk in anticipation of an early Wednesday morning admittance into Children's Hospital for his surgery. He isn't expected to return to school for several weeks, and that's assuming there are no complications--which of course there will not be.

I will be living staying in the hospital with him until he is released, hopefully no later than the beginning of next week.

I'm eternally grateful to my sisters and parents, who will stay and take care of my daughter, my pets, my house and my yard; to the fantastic people I work with, who have been so generous and supportive through this ordeal; and to my friends everywhere, who have come out of the woodwork with an overwhelming flood of encouragement and offers to help.

Thank you does not adequately convey the depth of my gratitude.

My laptop is coming with me, and I'll post when I can.

Have a great first week of September.

X O ! I hope that hospital is ready for your dashing son, and his famous blogging author mom. I have a 24 hr. prayer going all week.
My Catholic mother in law prays for saintly healing interventions and hangs little milagro charms around her statue's neck once the person recovers...I can send you some charms in the mail for extra " ju - ju "--and candles are lit, too.

"Pray, hope, and don't worry. Worry is useless. God is merciful and will hear your prayer."
Padre Pio

Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury
of compassion --- inexhaustible, look kindly upon us and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments we might not despair nor become despondent, but with
great confidence submit ourselves to Your holy will,
which is Love and Mercy itself.

I am hoping as I read this, that the srgery is over and your dear son is resting and you are as well. You have a wonderful support system--that is something a lot of people don't have. I, too, have said a prayer for your son and you and your folks. I feel sure you and your son will be back home safe and sound very soon..but I know I would be concernd, as any parent, until the doctor gives the thumbs up sign! It's in our DNA to love and "worry" about our children--our whole families--no matter how much faith we have!

I cannot thank you enough for all the words of encouragement and support. We survived last Wednesday's surgery and just came home today, Sunday. He had to have two rods (vs. the usual one)which entailed a great deal of pain. A great deal.

We are so very fortunate to have good friends, wonderful family and support from people we've not even met except through the internet. You have no idea how much all this has meant during this challenging time.

I haven't slept in about a week but hope to at least toss up a blog post Monday or Tuesday, depending on how things go here at home.

Thank you again, from the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate all the support, and Sam does too.

I am so glad to finally hear from you. I was starting to worry. Don't worry about the blog, just take care of Sam and yourself. Still sending you strength and prayers.

God, very relieved that you are home! ! A hellish week for sure, but the two of you have got through it all--how strong you are !
I know as a mom you would gladly be the one in pain, and I am so sorry that your beautiful son has suffered. Praying for rapid healing and that Sam will feel better very soon. I hope you both can rest now. XO
