Hints of Red

These shots of three different red structures were taken last Sunday.

This first one is the boldest red--and also the farthest away.

(Above, the barn in the distance on the right tries to hide behind those pine trees.)

Here, another little red building is perfectly content on the side of Garden Creek Road.

This particular shed near the nursing home is more like a silver fox with some red streaks still visible.

I've taken pictures of the barn above for about eight years now, and it never gets old.  There's something about this whole scene that to me says Mathews.

This weekend, Baby Sis and I make our trek to the beaches of North Carolina to participate in the Outer Banks Half Marathon.  I look forward to it for the escape, not so much for the run.

Click here for an overview of last year's escapades.

I'll be back to blogging the middle of next week--assuming we make it across the finish line.

(We will.)

Do they serve alcohol... at the half-marathon, that is?

PS - Nice to find our that the CC team is still enjoying a measure of success.

FC-They serve the next best kind of alcohol after the race: FREE beer. (The best would be free wine, which they give away daily at five at the hotel we're booked in. Are you noticing a trend here? But really, *cough* it's all about the race.)

As a founding father of the XC team, you'd be very proud of this year's group. Both teams came in second at regionals this week. I'll be at Great Meadows next Friday cheering them on at the state meet.

Second (at regionals) is one better than so many years ago. I respected every one of those kids for their hard work and good attitude.

I'm assuming some or all will be headed to states... Good luck to them!

Also... it seems that one way or another you will, or did, enjoy the half.

FC- A good time was had by all, and Baby Sis and I are more determined than ever to improve in this distance running. Full report on Wednesday. (And both the girls' and boys' teams are running in the state meet on Friday.)
