Three Things

Welcome to Thursday, where I try to share no more than at least three things and encourage you to do so too.

I'll begin.

1.  A few weeks ago, if you'd told me there would be another Blog Fest (click here) in Mathews--this year--I'd have thought you were crazy.  If you said Not only will there be a 2013 Blog Fest, but new bloggers will join us too, I'd say no way.  Get out of town.

Kay from Canada is researching travel options and Sheryl from here is coming, in addition to many from the other two Blog Fests.

It's true.

2.  Whether you're contemplating a trip to Mathews for Blog Fest 2013 or just need a week, a weekend or even a night away from it all, please check this vacation rental out.

3.  Son, Daughter and I are traveling today to Dewey Beach to visit my college roommate Iris, who has a vacation house there.  It will be great getting away and seeing her and her family.  It's hard to believe I've known her for over 30 years.  (Click here for a post about the last time we visited her.)

4.  (Because three is merely a suggestion.)  With various trips out of town, back-to-school stuff, major family celebrations (Son's 18th birthday and parents' 50th wedding anniversary), and Blog Fest 2013 to prepare for, the months of August and September are more than full.  One blink and I'll be applying for Social Security  it's going to be October.

North River

These are a few more shots of the North River taken Saturday evening from the front yard back yard lovely grounds at Kingston Plantation. 

The weekend was a flurry of activity, starting with Daughter's soccer game Friday night. (They lost.  We don't want to discuss it.) Saturday's fundraiser was great fun.  Mother's Day involved a lot of work for me but also a lot of seafood fun.  If I get around to it, I'll post a few pictures from that Food Fest.

For now, there's not a whole lot to report other than surviving the work week and traveling to King William Wednesday night for Daughter's soccer game.  There are only a couple more games left in the season.

It's difficult to believe we're midway through May already.  If time goes by any faster, I'll be reporting directly from the Mathews Convalescent Center, which hopefully has really good food and top-notch entertainment.

I am counting on it.

Sunrise

Queens Creek

A couple of days ago as I was fixing breakfast for Son and Daughter, I glanced out the kitchen window and was greeted by the sun, who waved hello on its way to work for the day.

(Not only is the sun beautiful, but it's super friendly, too.)

This weekend is the Mathews High School prom.  Son is going with a friend from kindergarten.  If I don't burst into tears during the photo shoot, I hope to have some pictures to share next week.

(These would be happy tears mixed with just a few sad ones that come from the knowledge that in one more blink he'll be out of high school and venturing into a new world. The speed demon known as time never ceases to amaze me.)

Canada Geese

Since I've not taken any new photos, I thought I'd look at some that have been queued up in my Drafts folder and found these.

To be honest, I thought I'd already posted these and for all I know I did.  But in the bizarro world I live in, a bad memory has its advantages.

If I don't remember posting these photos, then I didn't post them.  But if by some chance I did post them, I don't care, because I don't remember. I'm using them again.

So, to recap:

• I may or may not have posted these before.
• Regardless of the answer to the above, I'm posting them again because I got nuthin' here are pictures of Canada geese near Aarons Beach.
• Chesapeake Bay Woman's memory worsens by the day.
• Part of this is due to the stress of having to endure her daughter's basketball games, all of which have been too close for comfort.  But they are still undefeated.
• Part of it is due to Son beginning to talk about college and wanting to go visit some. DC and NYC were mentioned.  (He's already visited my alma mater UVA several times.)
• When did I become old enough to have a son looking at colleges?
• DC and NYC?
• Serenity now.
• Happy Birthday, Chesapeake Bay Father!
• (He doesn't know how to turn on a computer, or, as he would call it, a flaptop. His name for Twitter is Tweeter and then of course there's the other oldie but goodie, SpaceBook. He calls texting faxing.  I dare not ask what word he uses for faxing. Dare not.)
• Happy Birthday anyway, CBF.

Miscellaneous Scenes

These shots are several weeks old.  The first three are from Aarons Beach, the fourth is from Hudgins near the mouth of Queens Creek, and the last couple are from Gwynns Island.

I'm still on the half marathon high, wondering what the next adventure is going to be.

But I need not wonder.  Thanksgiving is already next week, and then it's Christmas, and then New Years, and then it's summer, and then my son will be a senior in high school and Can somebody slow this crazy train down, please?

This is all a round about way of saying I don't have a whole lot to say, am still laughing about the good time I had last weekend, and am in a state of disbelief that my son will be a senior next year Thanksgiving is next week.
