Happy New Year

I shot this yesterday off Gwynn's Island, and I would have been trespassing if not for a Mathews Native who asked permission for me to go on the property. (Thanks Mathews reader and thanks to the owner, too, if you're reading - I'll be putting more pictures up over the next week. What a grand spot of paradise you have.)

What I like about vistas such as this is there's so much nothingness; a splash of Something and mostly a whole lot of Nothing--almost sounds like a description of this blog....lots of spewing forth of random Nothingness with an occasional--though highly rare-- non-distorted fact or tidbit of information that does not cause slumber.

Speaking of random Nothingness, here's some more.

Happy New Year, happy first day of 2009, and happy first day of January to everyone out there. I'm writing this on New Year's Eve and just wanted to take a few minutes to list out some random thoughts. Ready? Here we go. I promise this won't take long or hurt a bit.

1. How appropriate on this, the last day of 2008, in December on the blowingest day of the daggone year, that I find not one, not two, not four but a whole army of ants marching through my living room. (Regarding the "blowingest" word - it was blowin' a gale here today! I've never felt wind that strong that wasn't a Category 3 hurricane.)

Does anyone know how it is possible for ants to be alive and invading in December? (Please do not answer that question; I'm sure it has something to do with cleanliness, and they were, in fact, swarming over an old candy cane that was shoved under the Christmas tree skirt that surrounds the very Christmas tree that likely will be standing come Easter.)

2. The Chesapeake Bay Family is spending New Years Eve at home, and as we speak the Chesapeake Bay Children are fixing "chicken satay" courtesy of the Nintendo DS cooking program. God Bless Nintendo! They've somehow taken what was previously viewed as a chore and turned it into something those kids actually think is fun! Last night Chesapeake Bay Son cooked up shrimp fried rice, and lawsy mercy that stuff was good! (Dear Nintendo: Could you please expedite production and release of the Nintendo DS Let's Have a Barrel of Fun Cleaning the House application? Please be sure to add segments on laundry and decluttering. Thank you.)

3. Chesapeake Bay Mother and Father will be joining us a little later to play Guitar Hero on the Wii. This statement in and of itself is frightening, and I can only hope nobody gets hurt or children are not scarred for life by really bad karaoke.

I hope that each one of you and your families enjoy a year full of health, laughter and love. May 2009 be your best year yet.

-CBW

Love your pic. I reminds me of summer, which seems so far away.
what was up with that wind yesterday? I agree, I've never felt wind that strong unless it was a hurricane or a blizzard. I'm glad it is a litlle calmer today.
Wishing you the best year yet. Go 2009!

Ya know:
There is big money spent on advertising by companies that make cleaning products & tools all in the effort to convince you that they will pick up all the crud on your floors. And you've figured out how to get 'nature' to clean your floors for free.
Truly amazing.
Happy New Year!

Thank you all so much.

If anyone comes back here tonight to read any of the comments, I'd like it publicly noted (again, I try and do this every chance I get) that tj right above my comment is the reason that I started this blog, and she is one of the nicest, sweetest people I've never actually met with a wondeful sense of humor and an inner glow that shines through - it blinds you even on the internet (I mean that in a good way).

Kaffy is the one person I wish would start her own blog, because she is absolutely 100% HILARIOUS, very clever and extremely witty but just needs a little nudging. She and I have contemplated starting another blog (under different names) that would delve on our tendency to be, well, rather disillusioned with the responsibilities of modern women, to put it rather diplomatically.

Thanks to all of your for your kind words and well wishes. Your support, kindness and cyber-friendship have been invaluable to me.

Let's make 2009 the best yet.
