Except for my college years in Charlottesville and the decade or so I was in Northern Virginia, my address has always been associated with this post office at Hudgins, a couple of miles from my house.
Up until recently, mail delivery was not available on my lane. Even though it would be so much more convenient, not to mention less expensive (as in free), I've not yet switched to home delivery and thus have to travel to Hudgins to pick up my mail a couple times a week. It really makes no sense that I haven't made the switch, other than I don't have the skills required to put up a mailbox at the end of my driveway.
Plus,
And that sort of thinking is ridiculous, actually. Having the mail delivered to the end of my driveway would be a luxury. Did I mention it's also free?
Begrudgingly I
Signed,

Getting your mail at your house will be more convenient, but having to change everything to a 'new' address will be a big pain. I hate big change, so I'd keep going to the post office:))
We have to go to the post office, and even though we live in a small town, our street addresses on the letter, parcel, etc. is not valid according to the USPS. It has to be our box number, or, even though the postmaster knows us and our box number, the letter will be returned to sender.
More snow expected. How many days till Spring?
Oh, I know, such a bunch of fuss and bother. About half the people in our town got "convenient" mail delivery to the ends of their streets a couple of years ago. Instead of going to the post office to check their box, and enjoying a visit with whoever else is there, they have to walk to the end of the street. And they had to change everything, all of their correspondence. Thank goodness it didn't happen on our side of town. But we have the problem Deborah mentioned, if our house address is on our mail, it isn't valid and might be returned to sender, depending who is working that day.
Sigh.
Whatever happened to the devoted postal person in rain and sleet and snow and all that? Didn't more than one of them deliver babies from time to time, too? Or was that the milkman?

Hey.. this is Jill.. look dude I know we have not always seen eye to eye but disabling my email account was just wrong.. now I am having to go through the hassell of figuring out a new one. For now I just hopped on hers.
I know Re didn't do it.. she has been in such a state lately that she just plain forgot I existed. Can you help remedy that for me.. she needs to remember I am around.. I think she needs me right about now.
but this comment is not about me.. or her.. yea I know shocking right.
it's about you and the fact that you are older today.. and by older I mean you are just a tad older than Re and I which puts you what.. about 32.. Lord you look good for 32.. Hope we fair as well with the beautiful genes you got from Mama and Daddy.
Well Re is fussing cause she needs the computer to work or something.. I just wanted to stop by and tell you that we love you sister and Happy Birthday.
Mucho Love Chicka...
Jill
HAPPY BIRTHDAY, my little first baby who weighed in at 8 lbs and 13 oz. You had a full head of black hair and I thought you were good evidence of my American Indian genes. But my German genes proved too powerful to overcome. As usual. Your first word was "cot," which was your attempt at "cat." You laughed loud and hysterically, even then. I love you and hope you always have good reason to laugh. Mum
First things first. Happy Birthday! Sorry we did not get a foot of snow to lock us all in but a 2 hr delay is still good.
Second. Don't change your address! Mark my words, you will regret it!! We made the switch from General Delivery to our home address when E911 was installed and we still have mail problems! Even the mortgage company does not like the fact that we have moved!!!
And you will miss your visit to the Post Office. Here in Hallieford, that's where it all happens and you don't want to miss all the gossip!
Another thing to think about . . . if you start getting mail at your house, you will see any bills that much earlier.
Just a thought!
Well here's me suddenly realizing thats the PO next to Donk's and across from that fabulous church both of which I have photos of ... our mail lady is called Venessa and she never puts our mail into the boxes, she buzzes ToonMan and gives it to him, I think she's got a sweet tooth for the him.
Don't change. Having to go into town for your mail gets you out of the house. Great excuse for more cool 'about town' photos. If you don't leave your driveway, we'll get bored:)
I used to live right behind that post office. my son got so excited everyday when he saw the big mail truck making his deliveries to the post office.
Happy Happy Birthday!!!

Happy Birthday! Don't change your address. It's not worth the hassle.
I love that you laughed loudly even as a wee baby!!
You an my mom have the same birthday. In my twisted mind that means we're related. Happy Birthday! I wouldn't mind a Cobbs Creek address because it would mean I lived down there and not up here. Hope you have a fantabulous day!
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday to you,
Happy Birthday dear CBW,
Happy Birthday to you
....and many more!
wv laxigne hope you have a laxigne evening!
Thanks for the birthday wishes!
Mumma - I had a GREAT laugh today on my way home from work, one that involved my son and your husband, aka my father. If I have any energy left in me this evening, I will put it up as a blog post tomorrow. I am pretty sure the people in cars next to me could hear me laughing, it was that loud.
Anyway, thanks so much for all the birthday wishes.
Regarding changing my address,
I'm going to have to reconsider this whole home delivery thing, particularly after reading about the Hallieford troubles... my life is complicated enough without wondering where my mail is. (Never mind for now that most of my mail is not something I look forward to with anticipation and glee - mostly bills and junk mail).
I think I'm paid up at the post office through July, so I'll worry about it then.
Have a great evening.
