Callis Wharf

Here are a few more shots of Callis Wharf taken from the Gwynns Island Boat Shop, which is owned by the Mathews Maritime Foundation.  (Click here for more info on the Boat Shop and its partnership with the local community college.)

My weekend was spent doing a whole lot of nothing other than watching CNN's coverage of the unspeakable tragedy in Connecticut. Which meant I spent most of the weekend trying to imagine and take on on the pain and suffering of all those parents and grandparents and sisters and brothers and others who are impacted by such a devastating event.  Which seems to have thrown me into a bad case of the Winter Blahs as I write this Sunday evening.

Because of all this, I don't have a lot to say today other than I am so grateful to have my two happy, healthy children safe and under my roof.

Very, very grateful.

Hope your weekend was a good one.

I watched CNN as long as I could. No words for the evil acts...no words...

Thank you CBW for the healing effect of the photography, showing timeless water, sky and boat subjects. Quite sorely needed...I worked in public schools for 20 years before retiring; I know the relief of getting through a day unscathed while working with gang members or students struggling with impulse control and emotional problems...yet I know I would have guarded them with my own life in a crisis...I regarded all students as my responsibility on campus. So I feel for the families of school staff as much as I do for the parents of the school children. My grand-daughter is a first grader.
I put out trust each day that she and her brother will be safe at school; having trained on staff for all manner of disasters, I am aware of things that could happen..beyond that, we have the luxury of expecting safety that parents in war-torn nations can't imagine.
I stayed away from tv news and stayed off-line the past few days.

How can anyone be upbeat at the moment. Not possible. A devastating event.
We all weep for each person involved, and like you CBW, I too am grateful for family. Not necessarily under my roof, but safe in their own homes.

It's been a sad weekend. Every time I look at the Brat Child (the same age as those poor children in CT) I struggle to understand how anyone could do such a horrible thing to someone so innocent and trusting.

If ever there was a need for serene pictures, it is defintely now. My first full weekend off since Thanksgiving, and I was just totally numb. All I did was sit and go "duhhhhhh". My heart is broke. I just don't understand.
