Independence Day
These are from our July 2012 family vacation on Hatteras Island in the Outer Banks. This same island is currently in the path of a hurricane which appears to be avoiding Mathews County, thankfully.
I'm grateful that, for a variety of reasons, we decided (a while back) to schedule our family vacation later in July this year. Usually we're in Avon, NC, the first or second week of July. Hopefully this storm won't be the start of a summer trend. And, hopefully the last week in July will be storm-free.
I'll spend this Independence Day at home with lots of food and a few friends. Son has to work, but Daughter and I may go to the fireworks display at the high school, we'll see. Right now, most of all, I'm looking forward to a few days off from work.
I hope your Independence Day weekend is a wonderful one.

Gosh, I got to mind my American grand daughter and clean forgot what day it was!! Oh well, we spent a lovely day together including some time at the beach. Wished I'd remembered to wave , or make her a flag!
Have a great day and w'e.
Ahhh.... a beach, lotsa food, a few friends. And maybe the fireworks. Or not. What more do you need for a perfect July 4th? Betsy
ps very glad Arthur isn't marring your day. Also glad your family trip isn't this weekend.
we had a nice day yesterday .. ok it was hot/humid but it didnt rain til around 7 ... this morning was a lot cooler and no humidity .. of course now its raining .. they moved the fireworks from the hudson to the east river this year so even if it clears up there'll be nothing to see .. i guess we'll watch it on TV which in truth is what we'd do even if it was on this side of town ... too many people ...
