Silent Sunday

This lopsided picture that had real potential was taken on Commenter Breezeway's property, which is an incredible slice of Heaven Pie. Even if you don't like pie, you'd love this place and ask for seconds and thirds.

----------------------------------
Boats sail on the rivers,
And ships sail on the seas;
But clouds that sail across the sky
Are prettier far than these.

There are bridges on the rivers,
As pretty as you please;
But the bow that bridges heaven,
And over top the trees,
And builds a road from earth to sky
Is prettier far than these.

-Christina Rossetti
-----------------------------------

I realize the title says "Silent" and yet there are still words here, but for me this is pretty quiet. I'm not done yet though.....

I have 2 announcements coming up this week. I'm not normally a planner or a scheduler, but I am working on a contest and also the official details of our 2009 Virginia Blog Fest. When I say "details" I mean "vague information with only one or two specifics."

The blog fest info probably won't be up before next weekend, but the contest will definitely be coming soon....this first one will likely be directed at my local readers, but don't worry, I'll eventually get around to another one in which anyone can participate.

Now, it's time for me to stop talking and let you all get on with your Sunday. Have a wonderful one.

And for you local readers, be thinking up your best Mathews story.

Beautiful picture! I love your Silent Sundays. The quiet is deafening!

So, let me see if I have this right. If I want to participate in your contest, I have to move to Mathews. That's very doable!

blogfest sounds fun.. oh wait.. you said local .. I am not sure if Bavon is local!!! LOL

GJ - Well, you can always move here, that would be great. Be sure to bring the handyman from your compound though, I'm going to need him. I mean "you're" going to need him....

Ann Marie - I haven't completely decided on the topic yet, but more than likely it will be something along the lines of tell me your funniest story about something that happened to you in Mathews. So, in this case, the person would not necessariliy have to still be living in Mathews, but they ought to have spent some time here. Also, the prize is driving my emphasis on the local population. A very kind person has donated it, and it would involve the winner having to do something in Mathews.

I won't let the cat out the bag yet, especially when I'm not exactly sure what it is that I'd be letting out.

I need more coffee. There ought to be a rule, no commenting on blogs before coffee.

Thanks for the poem. It was a nice addendum. I must admit that when I was in high school the extent of my knowledge about poetry did not go beyond “The cat in the hat.” However (knowing just a smidge more), I think it was Robert Frost who said; “Poetry is when an emotion has found its thought and the thought has found words.” I think the picture speaks for itself.

omg.. never never never comment before coffee.. when I do it comes out like this ...

Oyster road sliced toenail cowlick.

When in my head it says.. Good Morning have a great day.

Word Salad.

I'm just now having my first cup of java...I commented last night. Should I have waited?

I'm such a trouble maker....I promise to behave myself at the Blogfest. Will there be a special place for "time outs"? Make it comfy because I'll probably be spending a lot of time there. :))

B - Very lovely. Thank you. I struggle with poetry unless I am the one writing it. This particular one came out of the Treasury of Poetry, which was a childhood book of mine. Poems written for kids, I can usually understand those....Cat in the Hat included.

Ann Marie - that's one hilarious word salad. I vow never to comment pre-coffee again.

GJ - You have a free pass to misbehave all you want, especially since you're coming from so far away. I may live to regret those words, but I'm willing to chance it.

I think I can fix your picture for you. It is stunning, but I'm afraid the water will run out the side.

Good luck! (Gorgeous picture--I wanna be there instead of the desert--even though it is 74 right now in my green garden!)

Foolery - thank you for fixing it for me. If I had a faster computer and brain, I'd post your version up here.

AutumnForest - 74 with greenery sounds heavenly to me. You don't have any humidity either, I'm assuming. I think weather is just like hair. We always want the opposite of what we have. And when I say "we" I mean me.

Stay tuned for the first ever Life in Mathews Contest coming up tomorrow. It ought to be as thrilling as watching grass grow, which is still better than an average CBW post.

Thanks, Mr. Hammer, and I am counting on you to be a participant in the contest that will be announced tomorrow. I have no doubt you'll have some stories to tell.

I just set this photo as my background on my work computer. Lover-ly!

I love Christina Rosetti... Lo How A Rose E're Blooming is my favorite Christmastime song.

Wonderful photo as usual! Although it does bother me just a little...looking just a tad like a plank to walk, do you think maybe?

Maybe that is my problem, I definitely don't drink enough coffee!

ps Love the poem. Good to hear from other people who have trouble with poetry. That I am not the only one. If you keep to that child's book, then I'll be OK.
