Lazy Days

Don't you just want to be kicked back on the lovely screened-in porch of that house? Can you imagine the mosquitoes the views and the fiddler crabs the tranquility?

This house sits back behind Aarons Beach, facing the bay but with all this glorious mosquito breeding ground marsh in between.

One thing I would not want, though, is to be in this house during a nor'easter, a tropical storm or a hurricane. Even in good weather they're below sea level hardly above sea level. The high tides alone could wreak havoc.

But for now, let's not think about all that. Let's just think about kicking back in a rocking chair on that screened porch, drinking wine sweet iced tea while listening to the buzz of mosquitoes red-winged blackbirds.

Have a great Saturday.

If I were building on such a site the bottom floor would be one big screened-in porch with inexpensive furniture. A perfect excuse to go (cheap) furniture shopping after every storm.

Multiple stories are not a great idea around here -- too hot, too expensive to cool. But oh, to live in a big old rambling 2-story house with a wraparound screen porch! I think my Southern roots are showing.

Boy CBW you really out did your self this time, WHAT 12to 15 words then off to the ski resort? who the Hell goes to a ski resort in the summer any way? Just what do yall have planned? Never mind I don't want to know!! On the subject of BIG OLD PORCHES, My Mothers (POOKIE) home place has a big old wrap around porch with and old swing on one end. (you will see this up front and personal at blogfest). From the age of 13 to 16 theres was not a summer that went by that I did not spend swinging on that porch. Back then we could get 3 people in the swing ( now 2 max things have gotten a little wider if you know what I mean.) Hopefully one of them would be a girl, but whom ever it was we would sit there for hours swinging, solving world problems, counting car, or just about anything we could think of ! And if a girl happen to show up we would throw my brother off the porch and into the hedge bushes so the young lady would have a seat. Those were the lazy days of summer I remeber!! MM

tried to post this before. Jope it doesn't show up twice.

CBW, thought of you last night. Vickie and I went to Blue Collar Joe's for a 9 p.m. donut run. (Last hour each night, any donuts left are half-price!) Also, just down the road, Lord Botetourt High School was holding their Relay for Life. Hope the one in Mathews goes well today.

I'd love to have a house like that, nor'easters and hurricanes too... I love big ole porches and sadly don't have one on this house here. If I hd the money I would add one, no, I'd build my dream house in Deltaville and move...

There's a gentle rain falling here now, and I'm so wishing we had a screened-in porch full of cheap furniture (and good friends) to sit in and enjoy the sound.

I could buy an entire wardrobe based on fantasies of sitting back on that porch- and then spend my time sweating and slapping flies and go indoors.
