Seagulls

Here we have a flock of seagulls.

(Why do I hear, "And I ran, I ran so far away?" Oh wait, it's because I'm stuck in the 70's 80's. That would be 1980's for those toddlers out there who think only adults in a cemetery nursing home might remember anything prior to the year 2000. While I'm on the topic of being old and outdated, I'd like to take this opportunity to highlight the fact that there was a time when "text" was a noun and not a verb, and that time was only yesterday.)

Actually, this may not look like a flock of seagulls, but if you double-click the image you'll see there are about five of them, one or two of which are so amazingly close in color to the old dock posts that they seem to blend right in. What you can't see no matter how many times you double-click the image is that there were about seventyeleven seagulls all off to the side of this scene. Of course seventyeleven equates to a flock, it says so in the encyclopedia.

(Remember those? They sat right on the living room bookshelf that also held the rotary phone plugged into the wall. What's the phone number to the Mathews Convalescent Center?)

Here's to a relaxing Saturday spent blending into your surroundings, which in my case will either be a couch, a bed or the geriatric ward a beach chair.

Someone should tell those seagulls their hair's all wrong and they'll be has-beens in no time. They're so yesterday! (p.s. I remember searching magazines in the 80s to find out what hair products they used--pathetic!)

your weekend sounds pretty good to me...but please try to stay away from that geriatric ward for as long as you can! you still have a lot of years to go chase those seagulls..!

I think I'd choose the beach chair. And bring some Tab to drink.

AutumnForest-The hair was something else, and how about those skin-tight pants with Peter Pan boots?

Annie-I know, I actually don't feel that old except with regards to technology and my kids. The gap between my technical know-how and technology itself is broadening by the day. Then I can be driving my kids home from a soccer game and they spend the entire time in contact with their friends in other vehicles and I think back to my childhood when I communicated with my friends either in person or via letter. Or it's the look in their eyes when I tell them about telephone party lines or stuff like that. Sometimes I feel ancient; most days I feel like a teenager or young twenty year old, in spite of what the mirror says.

MPM-So far, it's been the bed and I am hoping to travel to the couch soon, although that's really just wishful thinking. There's yardwork to be done, so after I ease into the morning I'm headed to the flower beds and yard for serious and long over-due weeding.

Happy Long-Awaited Saturday.

I vote for the beach chair! Floating on Bud's bay!

And I also remember encyclopedias. Ugh!

Diane-That's a great choice, but I'm pretty sure I'm going to end up outside in the yard working. Maybe tomorrow....

Its too cold up here this morning for beach chairs but I am going to go blend into the beautification™ chairs at both the hair AND nail salons because I am old enough to remember not just the 80s but the 60s ... and when you are THAT old you need beautification™

Flock of Seagulls played Dickinson College when I was a freshman, a hundred and two years ago.

Daryl - Enjoy your beautification, I'm envious.

Meg - Kool and the Gang was one of my first college concerts. AS long as I'm going out on a limb I might as well confess that I had almost every album they ever made. Let's celebrate and get down on it, gosh darn it all.

The Stray Cats played at an grand opening/promotional event at Wahoo West Apartments right next to U-Hall in C'Ville. We were more enthralled with the free hot dogs and beer than the stray cats, and we ended up signing a lease immediately. It was all about the hot dogs and beer.
