Scenes from Aaron's Beach

Yesterday began as a dreary, overcast, rainy day that later moved to a state of melancholy, as far as the prevailing mood of the sky was concerned.

Mother Nature was neither ecstatic nor gloomy.  She couldn't quite make up her mind. She was somewhere in between.

I know that feeling well.

For much of the day yesterday I debated--thanks to the indecisive weather--whether to do what I had originally intended, which was take pictures, grill hamburgers and plant tomatoes, not necessarily in that order.  But when I awoke to a brief rain shower followed by some rather ominous looking clouds that didn't know whether they were coming, going, lingering, loitering, or setting up shop for a while--well I wasn't sure what to do with myself.

First thing I decided was I was starved to death to grill those hamburgers over mesquite charcoal briquettes. Not even the threat of rain was going to keep me from that.  I also tossed on a few hot dogs and two pounds of Food Lion frozen shrimp--which may I say came out absolutely delicious.  All I did was put them--still frozen even--on some tin foil with some olive oil, Old Bay, and lemon juice.  The mesquite briquettes lent such an amazing flavor I'm not sure I'll ever eat shrimp any other way again.  Amen.

Next, I bribed Chesapeake Bay Daughter with a Hardees chocolate milk shake to accompany me down to Aaron's Beach, where I snapped these (and about 100 other) shots.

Just as the bulk of the day was behind us, the clouds lifted and the sun shone jubilantly over everything as if to make up for all the lost time earlier in the day.

This shot below, from the base of the locust tree in my back yard, shows that jubilation.  And it was right about this time I decided to plant my tomatoes, which is a story for another day.

But they're in the ground.

The End.

Queens Creek.  Not Aaron's Beach. Same day though. Just later on.

What did you do yesterday?

I hope you had a wonderful Momma's Day--your children are so lucky to have you. The photos are lovely, and the locust tree view under sunny skies is to be savored.

LLC - Thank you. I did enjoy the day and spent about an hour savoring that view just before the sun went down. Built a fire in the firepit, pulled up a chair and savored away.

Thanks for commenting.

A good day! The clouds must have stayed south of DC, because we had sunshine the whole drive from central PA back to Maryland.

Looking forward to the tomato story!

I was at Aaron's Beach Saturday and also bribed children (and adults) with Chockit Shakes from Hardee's. Would have stopped in but the other adults were starving. Yesterday we drove home.

I cleaned the kitchen while nursing a hangover (the two are flip sides of the same coin).

While fixing homemade pizzas, got a call from #2 daughter describing her early morn tennis match. On the way to the phone stepped in cat puke. Dealt with that.

Husband fell down while running the weed whacker scraping his face. The weed whacker was unharmed.

It was an average day.

Sounds like you had a great day! Mesquite does add the best flavor to food - I'll have to try the shrimp soon

My MIL is doing so well after her stroke (ICU, ambulances and stressful moments last week), she was out looking at her flower garden yesterday

Love the pics, as always:)

A lovely family day at the park, a nice brunch at the cafe, and a sleep!
I think we might be all getting better slowly. Including Mr.Nearly Three Year Old. Cutie Pie. The baby has the snuffles, so she and Mummy had had a Bad Night. But that didn't stop Mummy bumping into a friend in the park, and having a lovely catch up. The little boys played pooh sticks under the bridge. Fun.
Oh and the kids and grand kids in Australia skyped me too. What more could one wish for?
glad you all had a great day. suddenly i have a babe in arms, so punctuation out the window.

So glad your day got better. That shrimp sounds fantastic. Let's have that when I come. I am planning on coming down this summer some weekend.
