Sea Gulls

Pardon these not so great shots of some seagulls down at Bethel Beach.  For starters, I'm not very good at action shots. Also, these birds were actually very far away, and the zoom on my camera doesn't usually produce very good photos even when the camera is working properly.

However, the camera isn't really working properly, and as a result I never know if a shot will be too dark (as a couple of these are) or full of glare (as several of these are).

It's basically anyone's guess how shots like these will turn out.  A more motivated, disciplined person would have sent the camera off for repair a long time ago.

I confess that not only am I completely unmotivated and utterly undisciplined, I am mortified of putting my camera in the mail because it's so important to me.

In the meantime I just pretend nothing's wrong and hope it will magically fix itself--just like everything else on my In Need of Repair list, which stretches from here to the Eastern Shore and back.

I'll worry about all that another day.

As for today, hope your day is a good one.

The photos are simply wonderful- they look like watercolors. The movement of the birds is captured beautifully! So sorry about your dearest camera - I hope it gets well soon:/
Have a great day!

Your pictures are great! They fit right in with the haze we have had over the Bay for the last few days. Kinda reminds me of the movie,
The Birds. Great job once again! Now I won't be able to sleep tonight.LOL MM

Sometimes I sit in my car to eat my lunch and park in the lot near the seagulls that frequent there just so I can pretend I'm in the Tidewater. Yes, I know I'm strange.

WV: anial- I'm pretty anial when it comes to organizing

Love the pics. Was terrified of birds after seeing the movie as a kid, but that inner panic vanished awhile back and have been enjoying the seagulls ever since.

I love the shots of the seagulls. Just tell people the photos look that way becasue you are trying out various photographic techniques - you meant for them to look this way.

I love birds, the last vestige of dinosaurs. They are great animals.

All those traits you describe are from me! The putting off, the hoping for natural cures.

While looking at your pictures, I thought of a saying that if you see a large flock of seagulls, it means it's going to snow. Then I thought, "You dummy (meaning me)! She LIVES by the water. She sees flocks of seagulls all the time. Duh! Anyway loved the pictures.....but would like to see some snow.

You could do it, if you figure on not having the camera for about a month. You'd have to have a back up, even your phone could do.
I think it's really difficult to get good photos with a hand-held long lens at full extension unless it has a vibration reduction built in. I had trouble with mine, too. I love my new lens and wish you could win enough money to buy yourself a good camera and long lens with VR!!

I just read Daryl's comment. Go for it. Make yourself, like you made yourself do that book. You can do this!

Oh, I already have a replacement/back-up thanks to Ann Marie--that isn't the issue at all. The issue has to do with making myself send it in, which requires packing it up, a trip to the post office and weeks of worry about when/if it will come back (all the while using someone else's camera that I haven't had time to familiarize myself with. I'm a very slow learner when it comes to these things. That's all. It's just not something I am at all motivated to do.
