Windows

These are more shots of yesterday's old house in the woods down Beaverlett.

The emphasis today is on the windows.

I adore old windows.

They say the eyes are the windows to the soul.

I think windows are the eyes of a house.

And although homes don't necessarily have souls,

they do have stories to tell.

If only they could talk.

I wonder what this one would say.

For now, I'm saying have a great weekend.

Well, in spite of the fact of my not knowing the date of your birth, I'd say it sounds like you will be having a b'day-celebratin' weekend. (I am happy to hear that you had a Velveeta-free, artisanal cheese package delivered to your Mathews outpost). So perfect.
Congrats to CB son on his DL, and be sure to make him sign a 'no-cell ph./no texting contract' in blood before he takes off on a jaunt. The good thing about cell phones though is you can require him to call and check in as he arrives/ leaves his destinations (YES, I made my younger son do that the first few months).
As Bob Marley wrote in a song ( I got to see him LIVE, two times in the 70's) "One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain"....Happy Birthday !!

A shame there are deserted houses Makes me wonder about the story of each one!
When my oldest got his license and a car of his own, I bought license plates with our last name on them for him - he thought it was cool, I thought about the safety factor:) He couldn't go many places without me knowing about it. Even the police knew who he was. Evil, but we gotta do what we gotta do:) I also made him sign the pledge not to talk/text while driving and he had to check in. Ahhh mom! Tough, it was either that or stay home! We can't protect our precious ones enough.
Have a wonderful weekend! Can't wait to hear of your adventures!

Most off these old homes were left completely furnished. As time moved on they were gutted by scavengers. Then the critter's took over.
The hard pine that most of these old homes were built with is the reason they are standing today!
On a lighter note today is Friday the 13th ! Did you know we have 3 Friday the 13th this year instead of 2? I know,I know I have way to much time on my hands!! MM

In filmography icons, windows symbolize limited access- something a character wants but can't always have. It's one of the few things I remember from English class in high school. I think windows are the eyes of the house too.

I think these old houses DO have a soul. The old house I used to live in was in ok shape when I moved in, but the termites had done their damage and was in pretty bad shape when I moved out. even though it was fairly dark inside, it still felt bright and sunny. I really felt safe in that house. Sometimes I wish I was still there.

Hope you have a wonderful and fun weekend!
