Three Things

Sunset from the Islander, 2010

Welcome to the day of the week known as Three Thing Thursday, where we share tres cosas, three things.  Of course, tres/three is only a suggestion.  I've never been a fan of arbitrary rules, and three is a rather arbitrary number.  So if you feel like sharing one thing, please do so.  If you feel like sharing ten things, have at it.

Let's stop worrying about numbers and begin.

1.  These pictures were taken back when I used to actually take photographs of Mathews County and not my crazy family or scenes from the front seat of a moving automobile the back yard.  But as I've mentioned ad nauseam, I haven't had any time to go on one of my infamous local adventures, so old pictures will have to suffice for the time being.

2.  I saw four white ducks swimming in a ditch beside Route 198/Buckley Hall Road coming home from work today.  For those unfamiliar with Mathews County, we don't typically see ducks swimming in roadside ditches around here.  Herons hunting frogs or whatever they hunt are a familiar scene in our ditches.  But ducks?  Not ever usually.

3a. I appreciate everyone who gave me suggestions in yesterday's post regarding my computer quandary. Please keep them coming, because it will be a while before I can make the trek to Best Buy or wherever to get anything. But I do sincerely thank you for your input.

3b.  If you have a chance, click here for my mother's blog post about the climb to the top of the Hatteras lighthouse last week. Also click here for my neighbor's account of our recent boat ride up and down Queens Creek.

Now it's your turn to share three things. Or four things.  Five things.  Or more things.

Whatever you want.

I read your mother's lighthouse story earlier. Very brave and independent mother you have. I had one very much like her, and I miss her every day.

1. I'm getting the house and yard cleaned up for a visit next week from my brother and sister-in-law.
2. Even though I have someone helping me, I'm still exhausted.
3. My doctors think I will soon have more energy and will also get some of my memory back.
4. Did I say I've been seeing doctors?

Love your photos. And ducks in a ditch would be such fun to see.

1. It's beautiful here this morning. The oppressive heat and humidity has left for parts unknown, leaving us breathing a sigh of relief. At least for the weekend.

2. When it returns, I will be in Maine.

3. Someday, I want to take you to Maine. I think you will fall in love with it and its mountains by the sea . . .

1. I finally have a place to move into- once I'm finished cleaning.

2. The former tenant left 6 pairs of dirty underwear (2 of which were hanging on the bathroom window), 8 razors, 3 bottles of 10X the tanning power tanning oil, mega mega hold hair gel, worcestershire sauce and garlic powder both of which were in the bedroom windowsill, a loaf of bread, peanut butter and the bulk size jug of whey protein muscle builder. And a lot of nasty dirt.

3. I scrubbed floors for 2 hours, and I now have muscles hurting I didn't think I even had.

4. Maine sounds lovely

1. Still trying to find my equilibrium without my kids (and their friends) traipsing through and about the house. I'll relax for a bit, then it will hit me that WHAT IF I FORGET TO PICK UP PEEZER FROM CAMP ONE DAY NEXT WEEK?? Gah.

2. That said, mornings have been delightful. I can sleep later and don't have to wake anyone up but myself.

3. ...but only for 2 more days, as I retrieve 2 of the 3 boys from PA on Saturday. Because they can't wait until next Monday or Tuesday, which would have been more convenient.

4. I guess this means they miss me. Or their video games. But I prefer to think they miss their Mama... because all things considered, I do miss them.

I can share the last 32 days of temps over 100, or I could share the zillion of bites which have yet to be identified. Mosquitos? Chiggers? Or judging by the size of them, aligators.

I could also share a toothache that I no longer have, or maybe I should just take a nap until I can come up with some positive things to share.

Hope you get your PC issue clarifed as to which direction to go.
