Tuesday Trio

Recently I've posted photos of this boat, which lives at the end
of my neighbor's dock in Millers Cove off Queens Creek.

But this particular near-sunset series was taken
with my newly fixed camera.

(I'm sorry to keep going on and on about the camera, but it was a big deal. These shots aren't anything to write home about, but my camera and I enjoyed the time anyway. We'd been apart for too long.)

I love this cove.

Back in the late 1970s it would freeze over so thick my sisters and I walked confidently across. We'd diligently break the ice around the poles on the dock to prevent them from pushing up at high tide.

But it's been many a day since the creek has frozen that solid. During a really cold spell these days, the cove (whch is shallow) may be the consistency of a 7-11 Slurpee for one day, but I don't think I'll live to see it ever freeze over thick enough to stand confidently at the end of that dock.

Speaking of the end of that dock, pay no attention to those missing boards in the foreground. That's my dock, and it's weathered more than its fair share of storms. It's still standing though.

My mother, aka Wild on Waverly Lane, probably has the Polaroid snapshot of the sisters and I standing in our vintage '70s coats at the end of this dock breaking ice around CB Father's boat. Perhaps she'll scan it and share it on her blog for posterity.

It's wonderful that you have your faithful companion by your side again. And I don't mind that you mention it now and again. I love your cove, too. It's so beautiful and peaceful ~

So glad that the camera could be fixed (that is good to know, cause I have the same one and I love it too!) I love how you don't have to use the flash and it takes a really good picture with low light...

It's funny how you can't walk on ice like you used to be able to. The same is true up where I live. People used to walk across the Potomac River in the winter just for the novelty of doing it. Even though we had that Snowmageddon two years ago, I don't think the river's iced over enough to walk on for more than a decade.

Photography at it's best!It is a wonderful sight to see workboats lying idle at pierside, such tranquility. The beauty of it all is if these boats could talk, what conversation that would be.
Yes indeed your cove is a beautiful place.
Speaking of the back in the day freeze,1970's,i too would partake in this type of activity involving the breaking of ice, especially around the family workboats. This was a way of survival, not only for the boats, but that of a waterman.I could go on and on about a waterman, but i will end it here.

When I was a teenager, our neighbor would clear his frozen pond with his tractor, so we could skate on it with his kids.
We used to have grand parties, with a toboggan hill on one side, the skating pond on the other side, and a roaring bonfire in between.
I'm so glad you have your camera back!

What a beautiful boat the Susan Leigh is. You can tell by looking at her that she is much loved and well cared for.

At least you HAVE a dock.

BTW, Kudos to CB Daughter and to you for braving the elements. Good job!
