Warehouse Landing

Friday, hoping to kill time in between errands in Gloucester, I drove down to  Warehouse Landing.

In a field on the right as you approach the landing is this cute little house.

And this one (below), which looks like the faintest wind gust could topple it over.

Coincidentally this public landing is where Blog Reader/Commenter Betsy and her husband, who were visiting Williamsburg and Gloucester this weekend, went kayaking on Saturday.

After kayaking, they drove to my house for a quick tour of Mathews that began with the observation deck at the lighthouse.

Betsy and Husband's visit to Mathews was brief but hopefully I convinced them to return, if for no other reason than the promise of more strawberries from my mother's garden.

(BTW, the strawberries are to die for and very abundant.)

Betsy's Husband

Thanks, Betsy & Husband, for the visit. I thoroughly enjoyed it and hope you come back again soon!

You are the pied piper of bloggers, CBW! How nice that you could share Mathews with Betsy & her husband.

After four straight days of non-stop activity I am starting to lean about as much as that house...

Boy oh boy what a great trip. I'm exhausted but it's a good kind of exhausted. If you haven't been to Mathews is a gem of a place. How is it I never knew it existed until I found this blog?

By the way, CBW's mom may just find me asleep in her strawberry garden one of these days. They were so sweet--I'm bound to start dreaming about them and sleep walk all the way to Waverly Lane.

I'm glad to hear Betsy & Husband had a wonderful time. I know I did back in December. I still think about it and hopefully someday I will return. I also visited the observation deck. I just wish it were closer to the lighthouse. Did somebody say strawberrys? Sounds good to me!

CBW, another masterpiece!
These pictures are actually in my backyard.Well maybe not, lets say only a short distance from the yard. There are many ways to reach this place,I perfer to drive in a vehicle or ride a bike. There have many times when my two daugthers and I would ride bikes to the lookout. The smell of the marsh, the howling winds, sometimes at your back other times in your face. And, oh lets not forget the mosquitos,It was almost as if there were a faint sound of a buzz saw running in the distance. The closer you became the louder that buzz saw (mosquitoes) became. But this would not deter us.We pushed on knowing full well that these dreaded pest would eventually be buzzing and swarming all around you. We considered this a quest or push for happiness.Arriving at this location and many others in this beautiful county. You do what you gotta do.It is what it is. So roll with it, thats my take on it.Now i am breathless.
