Camouflage

Last week through a freak accident, a story better left for when I can relay long-winded posts, I stumbled upon a Mathews County public landing (pictured above) heretofore unknown to me. The name, of course, is elusive since remembering anything names requires a certain attention to anything detail.

Yesterday I promised to avoid long-winded posts, so I can't explain how I found this landing nor what happened there. I also can't explain to you how mystified I am that the sea gulls, the dock, the crab pots and the water are all the same drab color.

But I can ask you to leave a comment in which you compare and contrast the 3 seagulls on the dock. In addition to their similarities and differences, what are they thinking or getting ready to say?

Perhaps these seagulls are thinking about taking out a mortgage bond. We may never know.

Looks to me the older guy on the piling to the right has said something (probably educational) to the young buck on the piling on the left. That young buck has without a doubt rolled his eyes and turned away, saying "you don't know what you're talking about, old man". In the meantime, the goofy one at the bottom is saying "hey, you two, stop arguing, you know there are fish guts in these wire things? If only we could just get to it."

I don't even know what I'm thinking half the time, let alone some birds on a public landing... but I do love the photo - it looks almost black & white.

They're saying, "What is this: Comp 1?"

No one should have to relive that class, and NO ONE should teach 1,000 sections of it every.single.year.of.her.middle-aged.life.

I learned what they're saying by watching "Finding Nemo."

"Mine! Mine! Mine! MINE MINE MINE! Mine!"

Which is what we're all thinking quite a bit of the time, just not saying.

Seagull down low: "Ewww. What's that smell?"

Seagull on left: "I dunno. Wasn't me."

Seagull on right: "He who smelt it dealt it. That's what I always say."

Me: "Oh my God! Talking seagulls!"

I had some sort of "Sopranos"-ish comment, but it got to be too long. I see Louie, Shorty & Guido sitting around shootin' the bull...!!! LOVE it!

Excellent interpretations, and thank you so much for playing along.

The way I have survived this life of mine is by making up games in my head(with ordinary, obvious objects) and attempting to look at things from a different angle.

What struck me with this picture, after realizing the colors of very distinct objects were all the same, was that there were 3 seagulls and none of them were from the same (family?genus? Ok: kingdom, phylum, class, order, family, genus, species. OK, so may be species?) Whatever.

They were three differnt types of seagulls. If you didn't study them carefully you might overlook that.

Finally, if I don't study the back of my eyelids real soon, I'm going to overlook functioning as a human being.

Wednesday is over! The weekend is in sight.
