Moods

Above is a recent shot of the shoreline and cemetery across the creek from my house. Saturday we had lots of fog, which created a bounty of photo opportunities.

Below is a shot (from Septemberish* of this year) of the same shoreline, shifted slightly more to the right. The rays of the setting sun behind me created an incredible light show across the creek.

The mood of the first one is somber, cold and gray, like the tombstones in that cemetery. The second one is peaceful, warm and relaxing.

Nature is just like us. She can be in a good mood or a somber mood, depending on the day or even the time of day. She gets angry sometimes too. Based on the number of nor'easters we've had this year, I'd say she has lots of pent-up hostility. She may need to learn some stress management techniques.

As I write this my mood is closer to somber because of my return to the paying job today. It will be back to the usual routine of commuting and sitting at my desk daydreaming of a job that I would actually enjoy, such as creating a reality TV show based on Mathews, its stories and its lively characters. Or creating the Blog Fest Movie. For example.

After Wednesday I'll be more along the lines of happy and warm because I'll be off Thurday and Friday.

Which of the two photos best represents your mood today?

*Septemberish is a guess because I'm too lazy to locate the date of the photo month which falls somewhere between late summer and late fall and almost always appears on the calendars of individuals with an acute lack of attention to specifics or details.

I like the misty shot.

I returned to work today too. No matter how clean my desk was when I left, it feels chaotic when I return.

Get going on that Blog Fest movie, Dear!

Somber...my sweet sweet Sarah, my old and dearest dog, had a seizure Sunday night. She has congestive heart failure. She has out lived her 6 months to a year prognosis. And now even as she move happily about the house I watch for any sign to tell me, it's time for me to keep my promise with all my dear compamions. To never let them suffer due to my selfishness. I have learned thru the years of loving animals, the exact moment when the sun no longer shines for them and the fog is moving in. They let you know if you listen. Her light will dim very very soon, and so will a part of mine.
my vw...how ironic....deada!

Right now I'd say the first shot- it's early and I'm back to the grind too. =(

I don't know. I just woke up. Am not sure if I have a mood yet as I haven't even finished my coffee. I feel happy though.
I love that first photo. It's beautiful!
Damn, it's really windy here. We're leaving in a few minutes to go shopping in Amish country. Wish me luck.

Do you have a picture taken in a thunderstorm? Or perhaps with icicles...?

I'm working towards being more Septemberish, though.

...Love that first shot! I love cemetaries and cloudy days and fog but my mood is the second photo. :o)

...Here's hoping your holiday was a happy one! Enjoy your day at work! (I know, I know, "shut up tj!":o/) *giggle*

...Blessings... :o)

I love the first shot also...beautiful! As far as my mood goes today....not really either. Maybe contemplative, which is more towards the first picture. Got a lot on my mind. But not really somber. Content, so also similar to the second photo.

Ghostless, my heart goes out to you. What a blessing our animal friends are, and what a bitter sweet time when we must help them during their last days. May you find comfort in the love and joy she has brought you over the years!

Love the warmth of the September shot but I'm partial to cemeteries and I can see it better in the first shot. But I don't think it looks somber. I think it looks peaceful.

the first one .. oh wow .. that's super and I think it needs printing out and framing .. or putting on cards, calendars and t-shirts ... Sibleys would sell 'em out in a nano sec

Ghostless, having seen that moment up close last week with our Gus I know how you feel.

VW: outive .. sigh ...

Diane-You will be a very integral part of the Blog Fest movie just as you were in the Gazette Journal article. As long as I live I will never forget your story of being afraid of the water, and the reasons why, and how quickly you took to it once we all got in. I'll see if I can work in a role for grandbaby Ben too.

ghostless-I sent you a separate e-mail, but my offer stands. Hang in there.

NN-Me too. Still. Just feel blechy.

AM-I hear you. (Am still eating those cookies you baked. Have mercy they're good.)

CG-Read most of your story about hitting the Amish market but couldn't load it fully so will go back later. Sounds like you made some good purchases, even if it was freezing. (Was here too.)

Mrs. F. - Yes, I have pictures of all of the above, up to and including the icicle. If you reach Septemberish, please tell me how. Right now I"m stuck in post-Christmas-ish pre-January-ish blahs.

tj - Thank you and hope you have a wonderful week and a fabulous New Year. 2010 is the year you will be coming to MATHEWS. Yes you are.

msseabreeze-Content is a wonderful place to be. I usually race by it on my way to stressed, where I spend most of my time.

MPM- You're on.

LInda-You're right about that first one being peaceful, but I take it to be peaceful as in dead. That's just me and my somber mood talking though. It is serene and calm.

Daryl-You'll have to show me how you do it when we come up there. Your cards are fantastic.

Grandma J. - It's right across the creek. We could canoe there even. Although we'd need someone to videotape because something tells ms that Grandma J. in a canoe has the makings of a great comedy skit.

Karen D - Desk jobs have their advantages, but when you're stuck at the desk for 8.5 hours with no internet access it can become painful. Very painful. Impatience and clock-watching do not help.

BHE-Let's sketch something out on the train ride up in Feb. A brainstorming session. They serve cocktails on trains, don't they? WE always seem to do our best brainstorming over wine. And wonky teeth.

OK, Tuesday's over, one more day of work and then a 4-day weekend. Hallelujah. Amen. And good night.

Have a great Wednesday.
