Dockside

After a most impressive thunderstorm Wednesday night, we awoke to a crisp, clear, almost fall-like day on Thursday.

Every blade of grass, every leaf, everything seemed to burst with color.

Also, every blade of grass in my yard that I had just cut Monday evening was now past my ankles.

No lie.

In addition to the gift of exuberant colors and cool weather, Mother Nature gave us the most enchanting full moon last night.

If I knew how to use my camera properly I'd post pictures of that gorgeous moon here. Alas, I'm only comfortable using Auto Mode in most areas of my life.

As I write this, a cool breeze floats through the screen door; crickets are expressing their appreciation for whatever it is they're happy about; an osprey makes his last calls of the night, and I'm reminded for the millionth time why I love living here.

Have a great weekend full of color, light, cool breezes, and relaxation.

You just make me more anxious for my week down there not to mention giving me 50 more reasons why I need to just move there.... someday.

I got a few shots of the OBX moon... they are on facebook.

I froze last night.. we had bit more than a breeze it was more like gale force freezing winds lol!

No I am NOT complaining I am in paradise.

That first shot looks so surreal! As I sit here, 300 odd miles west of Matthews I'm wearing jeans AND SOCKS because it's almost cold! It's 63 degrees and a heavy drizzle is falling.

CBW-- one of my happiest memories is a visit to a Monet exhibit that my son took me to in San Francisco....Monet is quite possibly my favorite painter, because of the impact of seeing his work in person. He is famous for his water lily paintings done at his Giverny home, with the foot bridge arching on the background. Your photos are like a saturated, all-green version, minus lily pads and bridge--but nevertheless the feeling is similarly evocative.
To Deltaville Jamie--I used to clean apartments after tenant departures, and I have to say I never found a "tableau" of meth.- fueled lifestyle like the one you had to deal with. Good grief--let the memory slide out of your head, and make that place even more your own ! (Congrats on your move.)

DJ-You really need to move here. The compound awaits.

AM-Those winds prevail down there. Enjoy your time and your upcoming BIRTHDAY.

Chip-It was chilly enough here this evening to don a long sleeved shirt outdoors, and for July that is extremely unusual, if not unheard of. Socks, though? You have my sympathies...

LLC - Thank you so much. I adore Monet. My Baby Sister and Mother are both artists and have that talent. I just see stuff, admire it, and try to pass it along.

Happy Saturday morning...

the weather here has just been to die for...I'm assuming it is the same by you.

I am working for the next 4 but I have been really trying to have a better attitude about my job (that I hate so much) at least I am working and there are so many looking for a job and nothing to be found...

During my breaks at work I have been going outside and walking around the property for about 15 mins at a time. It seems to help clear my head of the cigarette smoke and more...

have a wonderful peaceful weekend and someone on the BC blog asked a question that I thought you might be able to answer if you get any time...

oh I wanted to ask, how is the book going? have you heard back from the publisher yet?

Hey, Maria, yep, we've had the same incredible weather. It's important to get out and get that fresh air and clear your head during work. Also that exercise helps, even a little at the time. I try to take walks most days at my job for just that reason, although here lately (prior to these past few days) it's been oppressively hot.

Ask away!
