Mobjack Birds

Flock of Seagulls on Mobjack Dock.
I had a Flock of Seagulls album back in the 1980s.
That was around the same time the woolly mammoth roamed the Earth.

An Assortment of Water Birds, Mostly Gulls
Whenever I see "assortment" I always think of Whitman's Chocolates.
Which of course makes me think of Forrest Gump and, "You never know what you're gonna get."

Cormorants
I'm not sure what it is about these birds, but they refuse to acknowledge your presence.
They act as if you're not even there.
This can be aggravating to those who are patiently waiting to snap a photograph.
Also, there's something about the name cormorants that bugs me, not sure what.
Maybe it's that the word "ants" is embedded in their name, and ants and I do not get along well.
At all.

This concludes today's glimpse into Chesapeake Bay Woman's troubled mind Mobjack Bay wildlife as well as the lesson in free association and stream of consciousness.

Feel free to leave a free association comment of your own.

Or feel free to use the word free way too many times in a sentence.  Whatever you want.

Most of all, have a great weekend.

The beginning of the name 'Cormorant' sounds vaguely militaristic, while the ending of the name is 'rant'...(since you have a thing regarding ants, maybe you should get a copy of the classic black & white Giant Ant Invasion horror movie "Them". The movie is as brilliant as is its title.)
Your mom does need to write a book. Glad she is putting together all the memories & photos.

Maybe it is the 'more ants' part of Cormorants - you surely don't need more ants!
Also, there always has to be one that won't behave for the camera and has to face the other way.
Lovely pictures as always!

Cormorant is said more like cor-mor-aunt than cor-mor-ant. Did you know they have acidic poop that kills trees?

Don't EVER EVER mention A Flock of Seagulls again unless you are referring to the actual flock of and actual bird and not the over-synthesized, short, vocally challenged new wave band from the 80's. If you want my reasoning I'll email it to you. Just, please, NEVER AGAIN.

Loved the story of the Bobby Soxtet.
They would have had to buy flox of bobby sox.

I think they are ugly and rude .. how could they not acknowledge you and your camera!

I remember hearing of A Flock of Seagulls, but I don't remember ever hearing any of their music. I did read the book "Jonathan Livingston Seagull". About the only thing I remember about it is that he liked to fly as high as he could then go into freefall. Wouldn't mind reading it again just to see if interpret any differently.

WV: sypighti. Think I'll have sypighti & meatballs for supper tonight.

Not sure why I haven't been here before. Strange.

Now that I know you can wash grass in socks, I will come more often!!!

LOL...just left Lauren's :)

LLC-It does indeed sound militaristic. I consider ants militaristic as well. They do march, after all, and seize/overtake homes.

Deborah- *More ants*..I hadn't even noticed that I was so focused on the ants part. More is definitely not good when it comes to ants. (Or fruit flies, bts.)

DJ-Can't wait to hear that story, although I think I'm a little afraid to ask about it. (I knew about the pronunciation, but even the visual of "ants" in the word conjures up nightmares for me...Right now, though, I'm at war with fruit flies. Don't get me started.)

Kay - It's a great story. She has actually already posted another about her father-in-law/my grandfather on there as of yesterday. She's cranking the stuff out...

Daryl-They almost always have their backs turned to me. Maybe they're mesmerized by the horizon...or maybe they're rude.

dgh-We had that book growing up, but I never read it. Freefalling sounds like fun--but only if you're a bird (or Tom Petty, I guess).

Paxie- Welcome - That's a true story about the grass clippings falling out of the freshly-laundered socks. That's what I get for washing them inside outwards.(This is referencing a comment I left on Mental P Mama's site.)

It's a glorious Saturday here - hope it's nice where you are. Enjoy the weekend.
