Blue Skies

Friday, in between chores and errands, I dashed down to Bethel Beach to take advantage of the bright sunlight and blue skies.

At the time, I was juggling a million different several crises, most of which have since been resolved.

The sky was incredibly blue as if to say, "Get over it already." And eventually I did. Vistas such as these are very effective at setting things straight.

Mother's Day also helped alleviate any lingering worries. My two made the best breakfast I've had in a long time.  It was scarfed down and gone before I realized I should have taken a picture; the presentation was remarkable.

(They made pancakes, eggs and bacon and created a face on the plate using pancakes as the eyes; eggs for a nose; strawberries--from my mother's garden--formed a perfect smile; and the bacon framed the face for hair. They also cut a rose from one of my bushes for the tray. It was a perfect way to start the day. A very long afternoon nap guaranteed the day's status as excellent.)

Getting back to this particular day, though, an unusual number and variety of birds were out and about.  Photos of some of these birds will go up in the coming days, however I will need some help identifying them. Thankfully that's Deltaville Jamie's forte, reminding me the names of birds she's previously identified.  For me. On this blog.

One of the best bird surprises came as I was headed down the road below on my way out of the preserve. Coming down the little bridge I saw what I thought were two plastic bags in a tree on the left.

Except they weren't plastic bags. We'll figure out exactly what they were next time.

For now I'd like to loop back to the topic of blue skies and say how grateful I am that things (such as potentially stolen wallets; possibly dying dogs and Other Assorted Yet Not Insignificant Dramas) seem to work themselves out one way or the other.

At some point blue skies prevail.

Have a great week.

Wow, what more could a mom want--excellent breakfast, AND a nice afternoon, restorative nap after all the week's dramas. ( !!! )
My grandkids gave me handmade cards, my elder son took us all out for breakfast- in a cafe converted from an 1898 train station, and then we went to walk around the Stanford U. field to attend the largest Native American Pow wow on the west coast. It's held every Mother's Day weekend, a 41 year tradition. Great fun was had by all. I will do my nap tomorrow.

I guess that makes me a bird nerd. Or a know it all. I'm in a Monday funk, so thanks for the reminder that eventually blue skies do prevail.

Thank good for the beach... and the birds... and the sky. They clear away all the little gerbils in our brains.

So what happened with your car? I sure hope it decided to start again and was just messing with you. Also hope daughter and dog are feeling better and that replacing the license wasn't too much of a hassle.

This too shall pass. It's rainy today in DC, so I appreciate the blue sky photos all the more.

I love your blue. And your happy voice! So sweet of your kids to do that for you, too.
