West Point Crab Carnival II

One of the highlights of Saturday's
West Point Crab Carnival was the parade.

Grand Marshal.  Nice car.

This fellow (and the propeller on his cap)
certainly made me laugh caught my attention.

As did this painting which was in the booth just
over the clown's shoulder (above).
The colors sort of match the clown's attire.
(Also, it looks like she's staring at him,
thinking, "What the......?")

There were lots of really cute kids.

Some were waving.

(Others were picking.)

I want to know what I have to do to get one of these outfits.

Must. Have.

I wonder if this place works on crabby people too?
I might need an extended stay.

Y indeed.

There were lots and lots of cars in the parade.

(I just love the older cars.)

Smokey and the Bandit, anyone?
( Jackie Gleason's was my favorite character in that movie.)

This car was one of my favorites.

She color coordinated her outfit with the vehicle.
(I love that hat.)

There were a few horses.

And at least one pig hat.
(Evidently I'm obsessed with hats.)
(Yes, I did bring my crab hat but

only wore it briefly, towards the end.)

The West Point Crab Carnival was more fun than a bushel basket of crabs and a barrel of monkeys.

I highly recommend if you've never been.

I highly recommend even if you have been.

I highly recommend it.

The End.

Isn't it against the law or something to take a crab hat to a crab carnival and not wear it the whole time?

1. If you get that cab outfit, please please PLEAS post a photo.

2. I want that crab outfit, too!

3. Even more than that, I'd love to see a whole drill team of people in those crab outfits. Can you imagine the crab routines they'd do?

there's a water tower ... and that mermaid is painted in a style that reminds me of Clive Barker's ...

Yes, because why stop at a crab hat when you can have a whole crab costume???!

I love that all-white car. So classy. They don't make 'em like that anymore.

Great parade shots! I always was a sucker for a parade. That artist was at the New Kent Wine Festival this year. I LOVE her work. I just couldn't stop looking it. So vibrant. She has all sorts of neat paintings and "stuff". I bought a coffee mug with a crab on it.

I used to make all my costumes(including a tutu) when I danced with a ballet company, and it's been years since I've done any sewing, but if you can find a pattern, and get the material, I'm sure I could make you a crab costume.
