Deep Thoughts

This picture was taken last week at That Beach in between the haunted beach and Bethel Beach. (Right off the bat, three beaches in one sentence. I can't even wait a minute before I'm producing sentences that need to be edited and re-written. Not that I'm going to do any of that.)

Today I am going down a slightly different path than normal, whatever "normal" is for me. I'd like to analyze this picture and apply my interpretation of it to life.

(I'll wake you up when it's over. Go ahead and take a quick nap, this won't take long.)

Here you see a little path leading to blue water on the other side. What you can't really see is a perfectly beautiful beach, untouched and undeveloped.

Some people might see these green reeds as an obstacle to getting to the beach, and in fact they are. The only way to get through is this little path.

Have you ever heard the saying, "Sometimes you've gotta go through the bushes to get to the picnic?" No? Don't worry. In any case, sometimes in life you have to go through some stuff in order to get to the good parts. Although there are many possible routes your life can take, there really is only one clear path even if you can't always see it and it isn't clear to you.

And now for the really deep part: Sometimes, the things we see as obstacles are actually beautiful if we stop long enough to take a closer look. They prepare us and guide us for the good that's on the other side.

See? I told you it was deep. You may now wake up and return to reading normal blogs, most likely already in progress.

I haven't heard you have to go through the bushes to get to the picnic. Is it anything like you can't see the forest for the trees, or take time to smell the roses? I know what you mean though. Sometimes in life you have to wade through the mess to get to the good stuff. Kinda like when you used to dig the aluminum cans out of the trash can when you were a child to turn them in for money.
Anyway, this is a very good picture, and a good perception.
Hope you had a great Memorial Day.

April showers bring May flowers?

Every cloud has a silver lining?

You can't have a pet without pet poop?

Okay, so I made that last one up. But your words are well-taken, and I will consider them Thursday as I begin my 12-hour 2-day car trip in the back seat between two car seats to the hottest place in North America. With my parents. Sigh.

Son of a *beach* what a thought provoking post.
Thank you.

cats - Another version of the saying is you gotta go through briars (instead of bushes) to get to the picnic.

foolery - you most definitely can't have a pet, a child or a spouse without the poop. Good one. I cannot imagine that 12-hour car trip. I'm getting car sick already...

bear naked - Thanks for the "beachin'" reply!

Happy Tuesday everyone.

val and mental p - thank you so much for your kind words. The photos are so easy to take because everything has been so gorgeous here. I just push a button and out this pops. It is amazing.

Thanks again.

Lovely post. I think the reeds are beautiful, though. So, for me that makes the saying more like, "Sometimes you have to go through stuff that's only mostly beautiful to get to the stuff that's really gorgeous." Or something like that. I know, I'm super profound.
