Green

Have you ever seen anything so green?

The other day, intending to take pictures of the Court House but not seeing anything particularly inspiring, I decided to drive further down "below" the Court House. We say "below" because the further you get from the Court House, the further below sea level you go. I just made that up, but it is actually not far from the truth.

Anyway, I took a turn down the public landing right before Williams Wharf road. The instant I turned down the lane I stopped in my tracks and was astonished at the abundance of scenes to photograph. This was one of them.

Soybeans are a very popular crop in Mathews. Right now, they are bushy green, and they're everywhere. In the fall, they will dry up and turn a crispy brown just before they are harvested.

According to the Visit Mathews website, "There are 61 farms in the county of an average size of 101 acres. The principal crops are corn, wheat and soybeans."

That's a whole lot of soybeans, and a whole lot of green.

I hope everyone had a fantastic Saturday, as I did, and that your Sunday is even better.

I love that picture! I think you have a very good eye for photography. I'm just the opposite.

Today I was at my granddaughter's vollyball tournament with the thought of putting the pictures on my blog, then make up some story about how the Olympic vollyball games were moved to Temple TX. Not one picture was good enough.
So I had to resort to chocolate.

Soy beans...I have never eaten anything soy except soy sauce for teryaki.
Nothing wrong with soy, it's me.

tj, Thank you for the compliment. I colored my hair and borrowed some Lancome 84 hr. lip gloss from the CBSsisters. Wnat good eyes you have! hmmmm, is that a beauty mark? I thought it was bbq sauce, but I like beauty mark better. Sounds sophisticated....where's my sharpie!
I love hijacking other peoples comment section! :)

GH - I went to a volleyball tournament yesterday too, and my pictures are awful. I can't take pictures of people or moving objects, just landscapes. Oh, and if you were applying lipstick like my sisters, the majority of your face would be red, including the entire area south of your nose down to the neck area.

koat - thank you! I don't do anything but push a button. It's the scenery here that does all the hard work.

tj - You're sweet, but you are the one with all the talent. Y'all should head over there and take a look at some of the stuff she sews and sells (and photographs and writes about). Pretty amazing.

It's off to the paying job tomorrow and no internet access. I'm working my way through a box of kleenex at the mere prospect.

Have a great week everyone.

Where you live, where I live in CT and where my parents live in Missouri (I'm there now), everything this year is such a rich verdant green! I've never seen this kind of vibrant beauty in August of all things!

Did I tell you I'm a big fan of the way you put words together? So very readable.

This is breathtaking! Green is my favorite color. I also have a fondness for farms as my Daddy was a farmer. Soybeans are pretty plants.

Hot damn, you've got me craving January, which is when California is green like that. Right now everything is a crispy wheat color, sigh.

Beautiful photo, as usual, CBW.
