Technical Difficulties

Well, it finally happened. A severe thunderstorm evidently fried the modem on my computer. Dial-up internet is not working.

Until I either fix the modem, throw the computer in the creek, or find another internet source, I won't be posting or even able to check e-mail unless it's at the library.

Now pardon me while I have a conniption.

I'll have one with you. That just really blows! Hope you're up and running soon! :(

The heavens are trying to tell you something. And it's Ditch the Dial-Up. I know it costs more for high-speed, but it's so worth it.
Good luck, my friend.

Just wait till you discover, like I did last autumn when my computer died, that new computers often don't HAVE modems any more, because we all have broadband, don't we?
As Country Girl says, you may be forced to say a sad goodbye to dial-up...

Listen to Country Girl, for she is a wise woman. Sorry about your technical difficulties - I wish I had that to blame on my inability to blog lately... although I did just post something about how much fun it's been to parent my teen, who lately is acting very much like a toddler.

I guess this means we can all run wild all over your comments, without fear of retribution. For a while, anyway!

Love the awesome photo. Do you ever sell them?
Please listen to Country Girl..high speed is so much better. We even have that here in WV:) So sorry you are having modem problems, but with the newer ones, you don't need a modem. Or wires.

Oh so sorry! We've had several severe thunder storms that have made me put my laptop away! My biggest excuse for being MIA is sharing my laptop with four other people!

You gotta get those cable internet people to put a tower on your property! ONE MORE MONTH!!!

miss your blog. we could always leave comments until you are back...

CBW, I use rivah broadband and love it. I just plug in a little aircard into my usb and go. It works everywhere that there is a tower, which is pretty much everywhere in the US. I take it in the car, and when we travel to other peoples houses it always works. Let me know if you want some info on it. I pay $70 for unlimited usage. I didn't even know dial-up still existed lol.

CBW will be up and running very soon, according to unnamed sources.

Please continue to search the web in an orderly fashion. Thank you for your continued patience.

Honey... satellite high speed. And a real computer. Skip the conniption. Love you!

Bayman I'm not searching the web in and orderly fashion. No fun in that!

Satellite broadband is expensive!! I looked into it once. Sounds like we have some folks-in-the-know on the case. Hurry back, before the shakes and sweats from internet and blog withdrawal overcome you. (Yours, I mean. Not mine. Mine are easily controlled by medication. And wine.)

CBW, I feel your pain. I had dial-up FOREVER because that's all that would reach way out here. But I know from experience that even when high-speed providers say, "Sorry, service not provided in your area," it's worth checking into. My service provider (Clearwire) STILL says they don't provide service to my area, yet I know four households who use them (including ours)!

Hurry back soon, we all miss you.

The hardware I need for CBW's connection will be in tomorrow. I'll have her back online by Thursday evening.

Let me give ya'll some food for thought will CBW is regrouping. And by the way thanks CBW and Bayman for showing up at Sandpiper last night, I really enjoyed or laughs,Bayman is funny! Ok I hope none of you are as old as me (boy I feel it to day!) but do you remember when we did not have dial up or better yet internet? how about cell Phones? What would we do !! Better yet what would or kids do!! Tell you how old I am I was one of the first to get cable tv in Mathews. They came to my house, at the time I was getting 3 channels (on a good day) they offered me, like,2 or 3 different packages with a total of maybe 60 channels, I told them I wanted it all!! Once they hooked it up I thought I was a king or something, you could not talk to me for a month, Had my nose up in the air looking down on all the little people that did not have cable! Another thing what would we do today with out cell phones? I remember my mom (Miss Pookie) asking me " Do you have your quarter in your shoe en case you have to call me?" My responses was always "yes mom I will call you if I need you". (Little did she know the quarter was going towards a pool game later) Talk about dial up remember the old pay phones? Try and text on one of them! We are spoiled people!! LOL Oh and by the way or first computer was a commodore 64 (which I still have in the original box) Once again when we got that my nose was back up in the air looking down on the people. what do you remember? MM I need to write a book.
