Bushel Baskets

Here are a few random shots from the public landing at Onemo.

These photos have nothing to do with the hurricane which is headed our way.

This is how I cope with disasters.  I casually mention them before taking an evacuation route to a state called Denial, where I ramble incessantly about anything else, such as bushel baskets on a dock.

Before I return to Denial, let me say that I'll post an update on the storm known as Irene as soon as possible after the worst is over, provided we have current (which is the Mathews word for power or electricity).

That update will have nothing to do with bushel baskets--unless that's what I'm using to pick up my personal belongings which have been strewn from here to Richmond.

Dear Richmonders,
If our 10-year-old swing set lands in your yard, you may keep it.  I've been meaning to haul it off for years now and never got around to it.  Enjoy!--Love, cbw

p.s. Here's hoping that everyone in the storm's path stays safe and that bushel baskets will be completely unnecessary.

p.s.s. Click here for step-by-step instructions on how CBW prepared for a previous storm and photographic evidence that we'll probably be underwater here this weekend.

As I said yesterday, please stay safe, CBW....and CBMother, CBPapa, and ALL of you over there.

We may have had your leftover earthquake, but really, generous as you are, it is not necessary to send me your leftover hurricane as well.

The bushel baskets will probably blow away before you do.
I hope I'm not wrong about that.

...That one bushel basket looks like it's seen a hurricane or two already! ;o)

...When I first heard news of the impending hurricane my first thought was of you. My thoughts and prayers are with you CBW and your family. (((hug)))

...This would be one of those times when I wouldn't complain a bit if the weather people got this one wrong.

...Keep us updated and stay safe!

...Blessings

I love bushel baskets... I keep thinking with all this fuss and preparation that its all going to blow out to sea and not hit .. of course every time I say that someone says 'thats what they said in New Orleans'

Seriously, CBW - it's not looking good for you. Secure your patio furniture! But not Gustav. Don't secure him.

Meg, perhaps Gustav could be evacuated....to you?

If the winds pick you up, you are welcome to ask them to drop you in Detroit. Just tell me what time you will be flying over so I can clear a landing path for you.

Thinking of all of you down there, be safe! My parents are headed down to get the boat off the lift and bring it back here. Make sure the geese are zipped in their tent!

OK, my father has arrived with plywood. It's official. We're boarding up.

What I really want is a nap, but I guess I should go help.

Should be plenty of blog fodder associated with this storm. Starting with emptying/using the contents of my freezer for lunch and discovering one item that had been in there since Blog Fest which was last July...

Loved the baskets. Will be thinking of you and your family as well as all those in Irene's way. Hope you and all of yours reamin safe. As of now, a nice room at a motel in Richmond sounds pretty good to me. Catch you on the flip-flop!

Stay safe cbw family.
Thinking of you.
It is raining here in sympathy.

The wind is really howling here now, it's just a matter of time before we lose power. A tornado hit Virginia Beach this morning(Sandbridge). High tide (along with worsening winds) is later this evening Should be an interesting night!

Hey, I can only get on here for a minute but wanted to let you know we made out fine other than downed trees and widespread power outages. If my internet comes back up this evening I'll post photos and stories. If not, it may be a few days but all in all we made out fine.

Parts of the area are expected to be without power for over a week.
Hopefully we'll be back to normal soon (whatever normal is). Thanks and take care - will report back as soon as I'm able. - cbw
