Three Things

Welcome to Three Thing Thursday, where we're encouraged to share three (or more) random (or related) thoughts.  Whatever happens to be on your mind.

I'll begin, but only because I must.

1.  These photos were taken from our campsite over on the Eastern Shore last weekend.  It is funny how I traveled over 100 miles to sleep in a tent with 4 teenagers only to enjoy the exact same sights very similar to what we have right here in Mathews.  But there's something nice about running away being far from home even if you are sleeping in a tent full of kids on what feels like a slab of concrete in the middle of a raging storm.

1b.  I promise that's the last time I'm going to talk about that camping trip.  However, I am starting to think I'm suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder.

2.  The hurricane is supposed to hit this weekend.

2b. (Hello, Stress? Didn't I just endure you and your associated hurricane-force winds last weekend while trapped in a tent two hours away from home? Oops! I mentioned that camping trip again.)

2c. Is it me or has the wind already picked up significantly? Or is it still blowing from Tuesday's earthquake last weekend's Middle of the Night Storm? (Oops!) Is it possible that a hurricane so far away can create such steady wind, or is this related to something else, such as post-traumatic stress disorder?

3. It's been really cool the past several nights. I don't mean cool as in kool. I mean cool as in brisk, chilly. What a treat it's been to sleep with the sliding glass doors open. The Insect Serenade each night is fine as long as they stay outside very relaxing after a long day of earthquakes, commutes to work, and the details of every day life that include transporting children to and from various school-related activities even though school has not yet begun.

4. Click here for Chesapeake Bay Mother's blog, and check out the second post down called Three Days of the Codgers.  It's pretty darn funny. (The photos of the VW and Howard in the first post go along with that post.)

That's all I have for the time being. Now it's your turn.

Please tell me three (or more) random (or related) things going on in your life right now.

1. Be careful. Hope that hurricane comes nowhere near you.

2. Terrible fire, eleven lives in two related families lost in my hometown yesterday. Very very sad.

3. I hope to play tennis tonight. It is starting to feel like spring here already.

1. Brush fires
2. Earthquakes
3. Hurricanes
4. Pestilence (stink bugs)

Apparently, I have sinned and God has unleashed some of the deadly plagues upon me this year. I need to get right with the Lord, I guess. Till then, I'll be using only plastic tumblers to drink my wine - don't wanna break my good stemware.

1. I want Jim Cantore's job on the weather channel. I wouldn't mind just having Jim Cantore either truth be told.

2. I'm hosting a field hockey team bonding night at my home tomorrow night. That would be JV and Varsity. That would be something like 24 teenage girls in my home. All night. Into the morning.

2b. The Brat Chld has been informing people left and right that he plans to be up all night tomorrow night kissing ALL the girls as they are ALL his girlfriends. This statement was punctuated by kissing one of the girls after practice then smacking another in the butt.

3. Is kindergarten too young to start thinking of military school?

my 3 or more things...

I went to the bait store the other day, my sisters were down from N Jersey and wanted to go crabbing so we needed bunker.(yes, B4 work!) I saw a commercial crab pot and thought this is going to go great in my home in VA. A $20 price tag, my sister talked me out of it. I couldn't resist, I went back the next day B4 work and got it. I feel like a won a prize. It will go wonderful in my back yard ;^)someday...

2. So my 25 year old has wanted a pick-up truck forever, he is doing really well at his job at Harrah's, as a bartender, makes more than the husband and I!!! So I go with him an hour away, 1 week ago mind you, and he gets this great deal on a new 2011 GMC Sierra, beautiful vehicle, he hit the garbage cans coming into the driveway, big ole 6 inch scratch...kids!!!! but the good news is those scratch repair kits really do work!!!

3. I need a new life...

The wind picked up last nite and apparently its not related to the impending doom, er, hurricane .. I think its just exhaust from those blowhards in DC

Apparently NYC is expecting its first hurricane in a million years so I am sure the markets -such as they are here- will be out of bread and milk in the next hour because we all know that delivery trucks, semi-trailer trucks, those HUGE honkin' trucks cant get here and we'll all die milk and breadless

Lets all sing rain rain go away and see if that works

I prefer miston (WV) me vs torrential downpours

The only thing worse than a tropical depression is a local one. Hurricane, bring it on. You amuse me.

Santa Claus, Easter Bunny, Fairy Godmother, and Guardian Angel: Where the H__ are you? Do you want me to stop believing?

"Life is but an empty dream..." with earthquakes and hurricanes and assorted meaningless events.

1. Stay safe!

2. Thank you for reminding me why I loathe camping;

3. Three of my four spawn return to school next week. The same school...but with different hours and days for the first week. Also diffent stationery requirements that cannot be purchased at the same shop. AND all require two pairs of shoes (one indoor, one outdoor) for those ever-growing feet. Crocs, sandals, open-toed shoes not allowed. You know, nothing that we already have.

3a. I just returned from two weeks 'vacation'. You know, where you do the same chores as at home, but with less facilities, and the added requirement to make sure the spawn Have Fun. Thank the powers that be for brandy.

3b. I mean it, Stay safe, ALL of you!

Yes, folks, it's gonna be a good one, this hurricane, at least that is what it looks like as of this moment.

And, because earthquakes and hurricanes aren't exciting enough, this evening we have a severe thunderstorm brewing.

It's always something!

Chesapeake Bay Woman said...

Dghwk4 - Thanks. Hey, I didn't realize you were in New Kent, right around the corner. In high school NK always gave Mathews a run for our money - had some very strong female athletes in track and basketball.

Anyway, hope you and everyone impacted stay safe.

Mrs.F--items # 2 thru 3a--you have lived chapters from my life/son's parenting life, nowadays--including the Crocs.....
Everybody on the eastern seaboard, stay safe! Hoping that hurricane blows itself out (Daryl, you may have something with that theory re DC hot air contributing to the storm's velocity.) ^^
