Glimpses of Green and Red

These are a couple of shots from the Moon-Diggs area well before fall started her annual mission to minimize all of summer's vibrant green colors. The green fields and red structures complement each other well.

Currently our soybean fields are yellow and brown mixed with the occasional hint of lackluster green; it won't be too long before they're harvested.

Of course "harvest" makes me think of Thanksgiving and the colors green and red make me think of Christmas. After the week I've just barely survived, the prospect of the impending holidays, which will be here in half a blink of an eye, makes me want to escape to Bora Bora immediately, never to return again.

(Nothing against Mathews, in fact I prefer to live here.  But it's all the reponsibilities and obligations I feel the urge to leave behind.)

Since I don't have a passport, I'll just put my head down and plow ahead, like a combine going through the soybean fields.

Today, though, I hope to do a whole lot of nothing. Doing nothing is very underrated, and I need to reacquaint myself with the notion.

What will you be doing today or what did you do this weekend?

Today I must finish all the yard ork I blew off yesterday evening so I could take Bridget to get a Homecoming dress. I also have a football game to watch and a family birthday BBQ to throw together. At some point I will probably have to explain again to the Brat Child why he can't pee in the front yard but the dog can.

This weekend I will be doing laundry. In fact, I should have started doing it today, but it will have to wait until after church tomorrow.
I will go to church, where they let me sing, and I'll talk to people who aren't my dog, come home refreshed and then I'll do laundry. My husband is just back from a 2-week business trip and guess what he brought me? Laundry!
O well, he can take care of the dog anyway. I love her but she's exhausting when he's away because she's suffering from Attention Deficit, which is nothing like ADD, it's just One Less Person To Feed, Pet, and Walk Her Royal Golden Retrieverness.
Come to think of it, though, I have a passport...

Passports are expensive, I dont know if its to keep us here or what ...

Yesterday I cleaned, this ringworm thing maybe leaving but the clean up continues ... then I had a massage and got my hairs washed/blown straight (that'll teach 'em to be wavy/unruly). Today its crafts fair on Columbus, the Flea Market and then a mani/pedi because I am shallow and vain.... and in dire need of constant maintenance or I will end up like that poor girl at the end of Lost Horizons ...

WV abinon .. yes a bin on ... you too could a bin on if you had a passport ... just sayin'

Yesterday? Three ballet lessons; two soccer matches; two boys' haircuts; two long dog walks (no, Dog, you MAY NOT fetch a deer); one IFR training flight; four loads of laundry; one small mountain of ironing; one suitcase packed; one husband departed for India (HE has a passport... ); four children asleep. And possibly a partridge in a pear tree.

Today? yardwork; dog walking; close the pool; climb the Matterhorn of laundry (again); remove mysterious and icky stain from stair carpet; make banana muffins; deliver birthday presents; look for own passport; go to bed and read? No. SLEEP!

Happy, relaxing Sunday!

Mrs. F., just reading that list exhausts me, although I have a similar list from the past several days. Hope you're at least able to take a break at some point today.

I think I'm doing laundry today. Maybe sitting and knitting. Maybe I'll go out later and buy a pair of shoes.

Man, I wanted to run away to Bora Bora Friday, too. And I felt that way again last night. I'd never trade what I have for anything - BUT, to leave all the responsibility and obligation behind, even for a couple of weeks, would probably be restorative.

I thoroughly cleaned my kitchen on Saturday - the sponge detached itself from the mop head and I ended up scubbing the rest of the floor on my hands and knees. So it's CLEAN!
