Three Things

Bethel Beach

Welcome to Three Thing Thursday, where we're encouraged to share three things no matter how ridiculous or random they may seem.  Some might argue that's the theme of this blog every single day, except usually there's no recommended number of random things shared.  While that may be true, let's stop over analyzing before this introductory paragraph stretches from here to Bora Bora, which, in case you didn't know, is precisely where I want to be most days.

I'll go first.

1.  On Saturday I'll be the mother of a sixteen-year-old.  Only yesterday I was blinking back tears as I got up for the 2 a.m. feeding Chesapeake Bay Son stood on stage at his preschool Christmas pageant.  I was crying so much I steamed up the videocamera and you could barely make out any of the program on the video footage.  I wonder what happened to that video....and, come to think of it, I wonder why exactly I was crying. Anyway, it's hard to believe he'll be 16.  That means I must be 100, at least. Except inside I feel 16.  How did this happen?

2.  A week from tomorrow I am taking the Chesapeake Bay Teenagers Children and their friends tent camping over on the Eastern Shore.  Somebody medicate me slap me, please, I'm clearly delusional!  Oh, and allow me to make a prediction:  The Eastern Seaboard will experience a hurricane of epic proportions next Friday night, just as I'm blinking back tears trying to shove tent poles through invisible holes in nylon fabric while sweat pours down my nose into a puddle on the ground, the very same puddle I'll be sleeping in all weekend--if you can call sleeping in a tent in Amazon Jungle humidity sleeping.

3.  We're just about a month away from Mathews Market Days, "The Showcase of a Creative Community," according to the website. Personally, I've always just called it Market Days.

Click here for more information on this annual event which includes fun, frivolity, funnel cakes, music, and more.

Now it's your turn to share three things.  Whatever happens to be on your mind.

1) Thank you for helping the fellow on 198.
2) I hear that there will not be a Mathews Market Days distance run this year...disappointed and dismayed. In the past, this has been a very nice event.
3) Looking forward to your book....and the 2011 Mathews High School cross country season.

1. I am in Russia. Don't let my husband know I told you, because he doesn't want anyone to know we're away and have left our little hobbit house unoccupied with only our large, tough-sounding German neighbor in charge of it. LOL
2. The first tour of our trip is to the Hermitage and lasts from 10:30am to 3:30pm and I am suffering severe, screaming abdominal pain (chronic, don't blame the Russians) so said husband will have to go by himself and take plenty of photos.
3. We're going to the ballet tonight (in St. Petersburg, not Moscow) and wouldn't you know it's Swan Lake? When do tourists anywhere get to see a ballet that isn't Swan Lake?
Having a wonderful time (except for 24 hours of travel, and an hour of screaming pain), wish you were here.

1. On the way to vacation last week my van died. Luckily it didn't die on the Harry W. Nice Bridge and my dad was kind enough to drive the 2 hours to where I was to shuttle the kids and I and dog the rest of the way south. Then he drove the 5 hours back home. Tuesday I went and bought a new van. I'd like to have it painted like the Mystery Machine on Scooby Doo.

2. The best line from the week of vacation (other than the Brat Child saying things like "say Hot Girls!" when I took his photo) was "I wish they would just take the boat to the cemetery and play Ouija like they planned"

3. Happy Bday to CBSon. I will have a 17 year old in September. That means she is going to be in COLLEGE next year.

Happy Thursday everyone.
1. My 5 year long project is nearing the end. After running 90 miles an hour, 12 hours a day for 5 years, you would think I would appreciate the relative calm, but I can't seem to relax and enjoy.
2. The heat has broken here, it is in the low 80's and feels great.
3. The Cardinals (the bird, not the Team)continue to peck at my tomatoes and now they have invited a friend, a cute little bunny, so now they knosh from high and low.

1. The good news is my riding mower is now fixed and I can now take pictures of the 2 bucks and the twin fawns without having them hiding in the grass....err weeds.

2. The bad news is now I have to mow the 3 or so acres to take said pictures.

3. Tomorrow is Friday!

1. This whole thing with the children growing up and getting all tall and hairy and opinionated and then graduating from school and stuff? It has to stop. We have to figure out a way. I can't handle it.

2. No one cried more at her babies' preschool graduations than I did. And let's not talk about their 5th grade promotion ceremonies either. The darn slide show with the sappy sentimental music gets me every. single. time.

3. Not going tent camping, but I'm picking up my sister and her two sons at the airport today, and tomorrow we're headed up to my aunt's cabin (scene of the geocaching adventures from 2 weeks ago). And after the weekend's reunion, if everyone could just leave me there with a book and some wine for about 4 or 5 days, alone, I would be most appreciative. I just need to get out of my own head and I think that might help.
