Poplar Grove Lane

Last Saturday I turned down Poplar Grove Lane for the first time in my life.

Although I've driven by the road a million times in my 47 years, I was always in too much of a hurry, unwilling to stop, turn, and take a good look.

I'm glad I did this particular time.

There's much to say about Poplar Grove itself (vs. just a few scenes from the lane).  However, thanks to limited time, that will have to wait for another day.

Otherwise click on this link to a post from 2009 where I briefly mention it.

In unrelated news, as of last night, thanks to my son's doctor's appointments and my work, I've slept about 45 minutes driven about 450 miles since Sunday night and will be driving another 150 today and 100 tomorrow.

In case I've not mentioned it lately, I'd really love an over-the-water-hut in Bora Bora. For fourteen days, please.

Where would you really love to be?

p.s. Thanks for all the kind words and comments here lately, they truly mean a great deal.

I've heard the Four Seasons resort is outstanding.

That's hard to believe that Saturday was your first visit to Popular Grove. Those old red buildings bought back memories of the Dog days of Summer for me.When i was a teenager,I would walk those fields behind a tractor loading bails of hay on a trailer and then load them into the barn. It felt as if it were hot enough to scald a cat, just saying.

Hey CBW,as far as the trip to Bora-Bora in a hut over the water that too will come. But until that time you could always consider maybe hanging out in my neck of the woods. When the tides and storm surge from the tropical storms and hurricanes come in. As you know,I have tree houses. Although it will be a bit scary during these storms and it won't last for fourteen days, however it will be a hut over the water. Anytime you want to experience this just come by and make it happen.

Hope y'all are hanging in there! I've been thinking of you :) Bora Bora works for me, but honestly, I'm happy with being in the Deltaville/Mathews area. If the place has a beach, some wine, good friends and my significant other I'm good.

Right now at this very moment, I would rather be in Mathews, gazing out over Queens Creek, feeling my blood pressure drop. You need a house sitter when you go to Bora Bora? I'm your woman!

Meg, come on down any time you want, seriously! Big family dinner on Saturday including Middle and Baby Sister. Drive down Saturday, go back Sunday and in between get your calm on in the back yard...

Anonymous - I've looked at the Four Seasons' website many, many times. Stunningly beautiful.

JP-Yes, first time down that road ever. Speaking of loading hay, I just cut my back yard, and it's so thick I could use a hay baler right now to pick up all the clippings. Had to get one good grass cutting session in before making the trip to Norfolk. Unrelated to anything, at some point over the next week I need your help with a few things around here if you have some time. I'll send you an email with the details.

DJ-We're hanging in. Hopefully today we'll know when the surgery can take place. Deltaville/Mathews is good, but I need to get far away from my daily life for a bit and Bora Bora just might be far enough away. Maybe.

Maria-Thanks, the last of the tests is today and then we brace for surgery.

Daryl -Thanks. I think we should start planning a trip to Tennessee to see MPM. That would be more fun than all these trips to Norfolk...

Where would I really love to be? You may find this funny--but my answer would be in Mathews. Betsy
