This site is about my life growing up and growing older in Mathews County, a rural, water-bound community on the way to nowhere in particular.

Stormy Weather - Part II
Here's the boathouse at this morning's high tide.
The rain has stopped so I was able to get out and survey the goings on. In the previous post I mentioned a pot of gill nets. Notice it's been swallowed up by the tide. Also, in the background on the right you'll see our neighbor's boat floating over the top of the dock, just about over the dock poles.
I'll post some more pics later today or tomorrow. For now, the wind and rain have died down, but the tide is still up in the yard.
Time to go cook a pot roast.

I hear strong barometric fluctuations can cause miscarriages .. not that I know anyone who is pregnant..
AND NO CBW IS NOT the one I refer to .. that is IF I did know someone who actually WAS pregnant. I dont.
Ah .. ditionsf is my WV and clearly I am ditionsf or I wouldnt have left such an inane comment
I can pretty much tell you that neither CBW nor i am expecting. But that water! Wow. Did Gustav escape again? And, are you going to have some wine with that pot roast? if I left right now, I could probably be there by, say, 7.....
**snort** Daryl! I am expecting. A corona front to come thru!
Do you need to borrow my boat or my waders to get to the store for wine? Take care chickie.
<><
Wow! That's some serious water there! Stay safe my friend!
YIKES!! Put on yer waders!
OH my!!! That is some serious water... Hope it subsides soon ! If you need anything, just come on up :)
I hope you stocked up on wine...
Ignore the advice they're all giving you. I know exactly what you need to do. Come to Michigan for the week-end. And bring the roast.
Word Veri: sumsin
You know sumsin is wrong when CBW has made fourteen dinners in two days;)
P.S. AM has wine. She stocked up at Target Monday.
Well, at least it's only the boathouse under water? And that you still have current. Or, as we put it, The 'Lettric.
We are dry and FREEZING. And our power company informed us, via a recorded phone message, that we will have no power from 7am to 6pm both tomorrow and Sunday. How kind of them. Cold, much?
Now have to google 'succotash'. I hope it tastes better than it sounds?
Hope the tide doesn't rise any more! Take care.
Boy or boy.....we have been worried about you and all the folks there in Mathews! Crusty is the only one salivating over the abundance of water, but you know he's weird anyway.
Stay safe my friend.
Tile. Your house needs tile throughout.
: )
I'll raise a glass to all of you tonight, but for now? I'm on my lunch break and that would not sit well.
