Three Things

Once again we say hello to the day of the week called Thursday, and once again I ask you to share three things.  Always remember that three is merely a suggestion.  There are no hard and fast rules at all in my life here on this blog.

Let's begin.

1.  Yesterday I had the honor of watching a cross country scrimmage between Mathews High School and Gloucester High School.  Yes, it required getting up at 5:30 a.m., and no, I wasn't thrilled about that, but yes, Mathews dominated, and yes, I am thrilled about that. (Yes+No+Yes+Yes=It was all good in spite of the early hour.)

2. Son is in training to be a server at one of my favorite restaurants of all time, Robert in New York City Merroir, over in Topping at Locklies Marina. (If you do the Facebook thing, click here for their page. Otherwise click here for more info.

3. I would like to say thank you to LLC, a commenter whose real name I do not know even though she's visited here since the Blog Cabin show came to Mathews.  I'm usually able to send side notes to commenters here and there, but I can't with LLC because there's no email address assigned to her Blogger account.  Regardless, LLC, I'd like you to know that I appreciate your faithful reading and clever comments. Thank you.

3b.  This same thanks extends to everyone/anyone who has suffered through the years reads and comments.  Thank you!

Now it's your turn to share three (or more-- or less) things.  Whatever happens to be on your mind at the moment.

1. my husband is asleep
2. the dog is snoring behind my computer chair
3. I'm the one who should be asleep because the power to my sleep apnea machine kept cutting off which, of course, wakes me up.
4. Found the problem, fixed it, going to bed now.
Luv, K
PS: hi to your mom, not long now

1. Every day the Brat Child asks "Is it time for Blogfest yet?" And every day I tell him no. I think he's more excited than I. He even said "I have plans for that hot tub" (I said I didn't know that the hot tub was open. I'm very afraid of his plans)

2. Tonight I am going to look for a wedding dress. This is my least favorite thing to do. Yes, I've had to shop for one before... I mean more than I hate trying on and shopping for clothing. Especially when it requires nearly a whole week's pay to purchase.

3. I'll probably be around Aaron's Beach this weekend taking engagement photos. Or photos of pelicans, whichever works out.

4. I'm excited to be driving on the new side of the bridge over the Piankatank.

1. It's odd having no set plans for the day. I usually have a goal or two.

2. My in-laws are coming this afternoon on their way back from a trip to visit their great-granddaughter in Baltimore. They're bringing crab cakes for us for dinner.

3. Maybe I'll head up to the farm stand later on and get some corn on the cob. Please try to contain your excitement.

1. I am going to Merroir tomorrow night with my favorite uncle! Come on and join us...you know you're not going to mess with that other stuff until Saturday anyway;)
2. It seems that I have misplaced my first blogfest tumbler. I'm bummed about that.
3. YIPPEE!! Another day of rain! It's been so dry this summer:/ Ugh!
4. Yes, four, because I'm an overachiever. I have a dentist appointment this afternoon, which means I'm only working a half day today. Life is good, and a three day weekend is right around the corner!!!

1. Summer is almost over--that was too fast!
2. On the other hand, the nights are now cool and a few leaves have started to turn. Yay!
3. Can't believe how many years you;ve kept this blog up. I don;t always comment but I'm a faithful read. I love it!!! And... congrats on your son's job!

Congrats on your son's job!
Someday I hope to meet you - maybe the stars will align, the moon will turn green and voila! we meet;)
I have laundry to do today and I also get to remove a big limb that fell in our yard during the storm last evening.
Have a fabulous weekend!

Love your photos, are those soybeans?

1) It was so cold in the night that the cat pounced on my and woke me up. He wanted to snuggle

2) I got up and turned on the little heater for him

3) Autumn is coming the the great north woods! I love it

1. On Sunday, I will celebrate (not sure if that's the right word--perhaps 'mark' is more appropriate) the 25th anniversary of my first day at the Gazette-Journal. I remember stepping into the newsroom on the morning of Sept. 1, 1988 and getting assigned my new-fangled electric typewriter just like it was yesterday. Well, maybe not yesterday. But certainly not 25 years ago.
2. In the words of Marilyn Monroe from "Some Like it Hot": "Twenty-five years ... That's a quarter of century. Makes a girl think." The same holds true for guys.
3. For the most part, it's been great covering, and being part of, this wonderful and welcoming community. Here's to the next quarter century!

1. I can't lie - it's been a bit of a sh*tshow at my place this week.

2. I am my mother's daughter, however, and that means I retain my optimism, my sanity, my stubbornness, and my sense of humor in the face of adversity. (As they say, Comedy = Tragedy + Time.)

3. Angie, I am currently drinking tea out of my first Blogfest Tervis Tumbler. But I was very upset when my second one went missing, briefly, earlier this summer. Thankfully it has been recovered and holds a special place in my cupboard, where all others are forbidden to drink from it.

4. Spent Sunday on a sailboat on the West River, south of Annapolis, within sight of the Bay Bridge. Oh, I do love me some Chesapeake Bay. So much.

Yay, David D.! I am very happy for you! Congratulations, that's wonderful.

Kay - My mother just had a tooth out, wrote a blog post on it, in fact. I will pass along the message. She is looking forward to Blog Fest. We're both looking forward to meeting you.

LLC-Thanks so much for the email.

DJ-Hope to see you at some point this weekend. If not, there's the end of September.

CG-It's great not to have a goal other than crab cakes and family for dinner. In fact, that's the perfect goal.

BHE-Tempting...I will need to see how I feel after work tomorrow. My prediction is I'll feel ornery. So you may see me, you may not. If not, please enjoy that view for me, and tell my favorite uncle of yours hello.

Betsy, thank you so much for your contributions here in the Comments section. I am fortunate to be able to say I've met you and your husband.

Deborah-I hope to meet you too. Maybe the moon will turn green and I'll come to the local bike festival. Your description of it still makes me laugh.

Gayle - Yes, they're soybeans. They create seas of green throughout our county this time of year.

Charlie - CONGRATULATIONS on 25 years. The Gazette-Journal is a treasure to Mathews (and Gloucester). Thank you for all you do.

Meg, I am hoping the stuff you're dealing with is washed away come September 20. Surely by the 21st. Definitely by the 22nd.

DAVID D. (Part II) I CAN'T BELIEVE YOU'RE RETIRING TOMORROW! Twelve more years for me.Congratulations, once again.

Thanks to you all for commenting.
