Autumn

Autumn is a second spring when every leaf's a flower.
Albert Camus

Winter is an etching, spring a watercolor, summer an oil painting and autumn a mosaic of them all.
Stanley Horowitz

Fall is my favorite season in Los Angeles, watching the birds change color and fall from the trees.
David Letterman

I'm sorry, did we have an autumn? I'll bet we did. However, right now I'm feeling pressure to put up Christmas decorations, even though Thanksgiving is next week and July 4th was yesterday.

Where will you spend July 4th Thanksgiving?

I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving. We're going to my husband's sister in NJ and both of my sons will be there (I hope). I'm making my signature pumpkin pie dish (it has carmelized apples as a first layer) and a brussels sprouts dish I found on Williams Sonoma's website. I love Thanksgiving. (can you tell?)

I tried to post a comment a few months ago and wasn't successful, so am trying again.

CBW (whom I've never met or even posted on her blog) went over and sent me some pics of my property since we couldn't get through the high water. Was surprised to see that she doesn't have a pickup truck either, as I assumed it was required of year-rounders.

She also sent a Mark to give us an estimate on clearing up the 10 inches of sea reeds in the yard. But it didn't occur to me maybe this is the same Mark she is trying to matchmake? I was only checking out his truck to be sure he could handle the job. I would have paid more attention to the man himself had I known.

Anyway I really appreciate you going back out to my place CBW after you had just come in.

Marta - Yes, that is The Mark! Check out tomorrow's post and we'll have pictures and more details. (And I was very happy to help out.)

I'm with Daryl and would also be happy with good pizza and wine.(Moastly what I will hear is a lot of whine) Or like I write 'Vegas Baby!'

maria from nj - I'm just about with y'all on this pizza bandwagon. Pizza, some good wine and a big fat nap would be fine with me.

Or maybe I'll get my cousin cats to cook a spiral ham...that sounded good.

Actually, Baby Sis and I will be headed next door to my parents' house, where my mother will cook for two days, sweat rolling off her forehead, only to sit down and be done in 7.5 minutes. She won't let anybody do anything, so there's no point in asking.

Hope y'all had a great weekend.

(Do you use that expression there? I sometimes get a little worried that some of our expressions, other people may never have heard of)! Oops how was that for another un-grammatical sentence!

revengs...is that some sort of revenge...or to rev your engines?

Chesapeake Bay Woman said...

Annie-Yes, she is worth bottling.

Also, never fear - nobody can botch up a sentence better than me. Better than I?

I'm the best botcher upper of the English language.

I rest my case.

We alternate years - last year was at my side of the family, this year is at my husband's side. When it's my side, it's always at my aunt's house in Lancaster. This year, we'll have the noon meal with Curt's dad's side of the fam -he's the youngest of 5 (by 9 years!) and the only boy, all his sisters are still living and those ladies are a hoot. And boy can they cook! After that, we'll go to his mom's side of the fam for more food, some wine, and probably a hayride (with the wagon pulled by Curt's grandpa's old Farmall tractor). All of this family fun takes place in Central PA. Yee haw!

Had pizza last night -- Take-N-Bake, which Chas prepared, on his 50th birthday, which we completely ignored and will until Saturday, when I *hope* to be healthy again.

Going across the street just before dinner to park our feet under my parents' table, eat until we're obnoxious, cough all over them, and call it a successful Thanksgiving.

Hope everyone has a wonderful day!
