Tuesday Trio

Today's trio of pictures comes from the public landing at Edwards Creek on Gwynn's Island.

This week is chock full of action, including:

*  Chesapeake Bay Daughter's soccer tournament (Tuesday and Thursday after work)

*  Chesapeake Bay Son's District Cross Country Meet (Wednesday after work)

*  New work to be done on the book, this time related to Marketing. I have to basically make up ten reasons identify ten reasons why someone would want to buy my book on Mathews County Then and Now and (this is the hard part) send a photo of myself. (Due Friday.)

*I don't have any photographs of myself except the ones on Facebook and all 3/4 of those are of me wearing a crab hat.

*Somehow I don't think the Arcadia Publishing Marketing folks want a picture of me in a crab hat.

*That's just a guess though.

Hope your week is a good one.

p.s. Ann Marie, why did you have to move to North Carolina?  I need you to take my picture, and that's not logistically possible with you three hours away. Chesapeake Bay Mother, are you available?

CBW--hopefully Mom will snap a great photo and you can send it along with the best one of you in a crab hat, and let the publishers decide !
Chief among the 10 reasons to sell the book is the interest stirred up in Mathews Co. ( " Home of the Famous 2011 Blog Cabin" ) and the (at least) 10 + million people who follow the BC giveaway contest, newly interested in this charming and little-known area of VA.
Strike while the iron is hot, publishers !! Secondly, you have loyal and devoted blog fans...I can't estimate, but I know there are Blog Cabin fans who also read your posts, in addition to your other blog fans.
XO XO, good luck---LLC

I hate that. An author should auth, and marketers should market. If God had meant it to be the other way around, he would have made us hucksters instead of artistes.

You should send in a pic of you wearing the crab hat along with a proper portrait-type pic. Love that crab hat!
Your writing style is just wonderful, that should be enough to sell millions of copies!

Which turnip truck in Mathews do they think you fell off? I'd send them a picture of something, but not before I got it bleached. I have my pride.
(too much exposure to "Bride's Maids" and Baby Sis)

I and my camera are available.

Can you try going to a portrait studio, like Sears or something? Sounds dorky, but then you'd have an "official" portrait instead of a snapshot... Oh, wait, I see now that everyone else voted for the crab hat. Well, maybe not for the book jacket, but certainly for the Facebook page you'll be setting up for your book, yes?

Your crab hat sounds fine to me, too! Everyone in Mathews probably knows you better with the hat than without it anyway.

Wish I lived on the water. Maybe I'll sell this place and park me a houseboat somewhere. That would work!

I've always liked this one of you although I took it two summers ago.

LLC-I like the idea of sending them both and letting them decide. Something tells me they won't be too keen on the crab hat, but what the hay. Also, thanks for the words of support. I think mentioning the blog cabin show spurring interest is a grand idea...

Kay - I sent you an e-mail with more fun facts about all the marketing, but hey, I was never in this for the money, that's for sure! (And good thing!) It was a great opportunity to do a book, and after this next hurdle of promoting it, hopefully the bulk of it will be over and I can focus on what I do best. (What that is is *completely* unknown to me....but I'm thinking maybe a calendar, a photo/coffee table book, who knows.)

deborah - The writing in the book is almost exactly opposite my writing style on this blog, with almost no anecdotal information (and no strike throughs!). It is more a compilation of facts from our local paper, the Gazette Journal, and some local history books. Maybe some day I'll do one with this rambling style of mine that relies heavily on strike throughs and tangents.... thanks, as always, for your kind words.

Bethie/DJ/TSAnnie/Daryl-I think I've just been convinced to send in at least one crab hat photo...

MPM-Send me whatever you come across if you have time. Thank you!

CB Mother/Wild on Waverly - I think they think I fell headfirst off a seafood truck, to be honest. And if they don't think that now, they'll certainly think so when I send at least one mug shot with a crab hat. I may need your help Thursday afternoon, get your camera ready.

Meg-Unfortunately with my work/commute and sporting events this week, I have no time to go to a Sears (which would entail yet more driving), but even so this is not for the sleeve of the book (which has already gone to print), this is only for promotional material. So a snapshot should be fine. It's just that I don't have any that I didn't take myself through the window at Williams Wharf or my own sliding glass door, etc.

Dghawk-A houseboat sounds wonderful. Have you seen those Aqua Lodges over in Deltaville? Check them out at www.eastcoasthouseboats.com. I think I could get used to living on one of these, except during a nor'easter, hurricane, earthquake, tsunami, mosquito season, horsefly season, etc. etc.

It ate my comment from this morning!!! What CBW didn't realize when she wrote this was that I was invading Mathews with my presence on Thursday!!!! I will have my camera..

Ann Marie - Excellent timing! Between Kate's picture and whatever you take Thursday, I just might meet my Friday deadline yet. Looking forward to seeing you.
