Seeing Red

These are from a quick jaunt to Bethel Beach last week.

I was so mesmerized by the sky and its reflection in the water,

I almost overlooked a surprise.

A splash of red in an otherwise green and gray sea of marsh grass.

Anyone know what this is?

Salicornia virginica also called glasswort or pickleweed. It turns red in fall.

Pickleweed! Love the reflections--sometime it would also be fun if you could catch a reflection of yourself taking the photo. Betsy

LLC-and deborah - I agree.

AM-I'll take your word for it!

DJ-Thank you, once again!

Betsy-I'm afraid that might break the camera, but maybe I'll try it sometime.

Annie - Probably so. And if I'm doing this next year, there's no doubt I'll ask the same question. Memory like a sieve.

Daryl, it definitely is.

CG-She comes to my rescue often on this blog.

Is it Friday yet?
