Memorial Day Weekend

Memorial Day weekend is one of my favorites. The end of the brutal school and sports year is just around the corner.  The weather is usually warm.  There's no work on Monday. And summer is just a hop, skip and a jump away.

A few years back when I had a deadline for my book, I took Memorial Day week off to focus on finishing up. Ever since, I've used this week to take a break from work and all the rushing around and to (hopefully) get caught up on housework.  Next week I have to work on Friday but intend to spend the rest of my time sleeping working on the yard and house, which have been sorely neglected for some time now.

When Son and Daughter were younger, we usually spent Memorial Day weekend camping over on the Eastern Shore, from a place that had the most beautiful sunsets.  I loved camping there, even if it was a lot of work.

These pictures, which I've posted before, are from one of those camping trips.

Happy Memorial Day weekend.

Stunning photos (as always). We just came back from camping at Westmoreland State Park. Thought we would go during the calm BEFORE the Memorial Day rush, LOL. Saw the same sort of sunrises. The rivers along the Chesapeake are such special places. Happy Memorial Day weekend and enjoy your day off! Betsy

Normally I head down your way, this year I'm embarking on a 2 day camping trip with 2 boys (3 if you count Big E) and going to a demolition derby. Yippee. Also, I had a dream that you and I were going to a NASCAR race to solve a murder. You were wearing your crab hat, I was wearing a crab shirt and the rubber ducky float.

Happily spent the weekend with long lost relatives at a family reunion and celebration of my mom's 90th birthday.
Finally got to see my older son, daughter-in-law and grandkids after 18 months, too. They made the 14 hr. drive from WA State down to CA for the reunion and birthday.
My late sister's sons came with their families, and my sister's grandkids played with mine like they had known each other forever. My sister's sons and my older son came to surprise my mom and she was indeed surprised.
We had lovely weather and were a very lucky group of people for a few days of fun.
Your kids must have great Memorial holiday camping memories.
