Hints of Red

These shots of three different red structures were taken last Sunday.

This first one is the boldest red--and also the farthest away.

(Above, the barn in the distance on the right tries to hide behind those pine trees.)

Here, another little red building is perfectly content on the side of Garden Creek Road.

This particular shed near the nursing home is more like a silver fox with some red streaks still visible.

I've taken pictures of the barn above for about eight years now, and it never gets old.  There's something about this whole scene that to me says Mathews.

This weekend, Baby Sis and I make our trek to the beaches of North Carolina to participate in the Outer Banks Half Marathon.  I look forward to it for the escape, not so much for the run.

Click here for an overview of last year's escapades.

I'll be back to blogging the middle of next week--assuming we make it across the finish line.

(We will.)

Outbuildings

These were taken early Thursday morning from the Diggs area of the county.

I happen to love this field and the structures that live in it, especially
during soybean season when the field is all lush and
the red sheds look like they're drowning in a sea of green.

But in the winter,

the red sheds come alive in contrast to the stark,

drab landscape that screams cold winter day.

Speaking of screaming, I did just a little last night.

Daughter's basketball team beat King William to make two wins in one week.

Yesterday I said it was the last home game, and that's incorrect.  We have one more home game Monday night (when the seniors will be honored) and then back-to-back away games Tuesday and Wednesday.

I see no reason why we can't win all three games.  So that's what I'm putting out there to the universe.

_______

Hello, Universe?  We're on a roll here, and we're not going to disrupt our winning streak.  OK?

OK.  Thank you for understanding. Also, thanks for the snow recently, I really enjoyed it.

Love,
CBW

_______

And thank you, dear readers reader for understanding that I am currently obsessed with warm weather and sunshine, which are nowhere to be found obsessed with basketball.

Have a great weekend.

Dirt Lane

The other day, after dropping off Daughter at cross country practice,

I drove down the Glebe for the first time in

a month of Sundays

a while.

I wanted to check on a soybean field that I adore.

It is still there.

So are the outbuildings adorning its edges.

~~~~~~~~~~
Have a fantastic weekend.
