Alive and Kickin'

Once upon a time, Chesapeake Bay Daughter graduated high school and delivered the best Valedictorian speech her mother had ever heard.

One of these days Chesapeake Bay Woman will post the video of that speech, which was funny and relaxed and awesome and perfectly delivered--even if she, the mother, does say so herself.

Then, one day, forty thousand and ten other things happened, including sporadic internet and laptop functionality, and Chesapeake Bay Woman let her blog die slide.

In spite of all outward appearances, this blogger blog isn't dead.  Not yet.

There is too much to report and not enough time to do so. At least not until this blogger is Empty Nesting (effective mid-August).  So much has happened here in Mathews since I last checked in.

I promise to return to regular blogging updates as soon as time permits.

I hope all is well in your world!

Public Landing

These were taken from one of my favorite public landings in the county, near Bethel Beach where I sometimes park to go for a six-mile run.  I haven't been doing many six-mile runs lately, and it shows that needs to change, especially since Baby Sis and I intend to run a couple of half marathons this fall.

Today I accompanied Daughter to the last high school open house I'll ever attend.  Checkbook clutched, I paid the various fees and ambled numbly through the halls of Mathews High School, barely able to believe the little girl I just dropped off at preschool is now a senior in high school.

It's also hard to believe that the last major weekend of summer is upon us.

Time continues to fly by.  I am doing my best to keep up.

Prom

This was my daughter before this weekend's Mathews High School prom.  Saturday was yet another marathon day that started with a trip to a neighbor's house for activities related to hair, makeup and nails.  Then there were multiple stops for pictures, dinner at Bangkok Noi in Gloucester, more pictures in our back yard, the prom itself (conveniently located at the Piankatank Ruritan Club which is a cartwheel away from our house), and ultimately the after-prom at the high school.

I helped out at the after-prom and didn't get to bed until after 3:00 a.m. (*yawn*)

Daughter was absolutely stunning, and she had a great time.

In short, although it was a very long day that didn't really end until early Sunday morning, a good time was had by all.

Now, I could really use a nap. (*yawn*)

Homecoming Parade, Part II

These are the remaining shots from last Friday's Homecoming parade, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

This week is another busy one, with Daughter's cross country meet at New Kent
today, and Middle Sister's high school reunion (30th) this weekend.

Time continues to fly by.

Homecoming Parade, Part I

These are a few shots from Friday afternoon's Homecoming parade.  It was a gorgeous day for a parade.  It was a gorgeous weekend for anything, really. The weather couldn't have been more perfect.

Stay tuned for more parade pictures, coming soon to a blog near you.
