New Point

On Saturday, after going for a long walk, I took my new camera for a drive down to the southern end of the county.

My new camera and I are still getting acquainted,
a process that's going to take forever a while.

One of the places I stopped was Bayside.

a bustling wharf and fish-packing plant back in the day.

The weather this weekend was remarkably warm for February.  Daffodils are already starting to bloom, certain trees have buds, and my back yard already could use a good cutting.

Most everything is still this dull blah brown of winter, though.

Last weekend I was in Dillon Beach, California, where everything was green and beautiful.  We took a day trip to Calistoga, my new favorite small town where I would like to spend the winters when I win the lottery.

Note to self:  Start buying lottery tickets, please.  Thanks.

In other news, I'm traveling to Atlanta this week for work, but when I return the weekend weather promises to be warm and wonderful once again.

I'll definitely spend more time becoming acquainted with all the gadgets and gizmos and settings on my camera, because there's way too much much to learn.

I hope all is well in your world.

Snow II

After last Saturday's blizzard was all said and done,

Sunday morning on Queens Creek looked like this.

These were taken with my new camera, which has more options and gadgets and functions and widgets than I know what to do with.

At the moment.

But I am learning.

Slowly but surely.

Coinciding with the coldest weather of the season--and a blizzard--my heating system decided it'd had enough.  After several days of frigid indoor temperatures, I decided to move outdoors and build an igloo, which would be warmer it was determined that I need a new compressor.

After wondering whether I should just up and move to Alaska, which surely was warmer, Mother Nature flipped the switch.  Lo and behold, the outdoor temperature raced up to the sixties, and all the snow disappeared.

(Since I still don't have the replacement compressor yet, we're still able to ski and ice skate inside my house.)

A week later, every bit of evidence that there was a blizzard is gone.

I look forward to many more practice sessions with my new camera.

Happy New Year!

It's hard to believe 2016 is over already.

2016 was pretty good to me.

Compared to 2015, this was an absolutely wonderful year. So many good things happened, I'm really going to miss 2016. One of the things I'm not especially proud of, however, is that this blog languished in 2016. Much of 2015 too.

One of the many great parts of 2016 was receiving a brand spanking new fancy camera for Christmas. Opening that present brought me to tears, really. Although I'm still fumbling my way through the user manual, I'll be out and about snapping new photos with it soon.

So one of my goals for 2017 is to learn to use my beautiful new camera and blog at least once a week. I have a few other minor goals that I may or may not get to, but more frequent blogging is definitely high on the priority totem pole.

Although I loved 2016, I'm already looking forward to 2017. In February, I will travel to California for a mini-reunion with a few of the friends I've made through this blog. In March, Baby Sister and I are going on a trip-of-a-lifetime cruise! I cannot wait!

For the few people who still visit this rusty old blog, thank you for your patience as I try to polish it back up and get it back on track. It may take a while, but she'll be good as new here soon with a little TLC.

May 2017 be your best year yet!
