Three Things

It appears that Thursday is here once again, and that means it's time to share three things, three thoughts, three whateverisonyourminds.

(One of the advantages of not writing for money--or for anything, actually, other than your own amusement--is the ability to completely botch the English language force words together like whateverisonyourmind and then have the audacity to make it plural.)

Anyway, back to the three things.

1.  The Mathews varsity girls won last night against a very tough opponent, Lancaster.  After they lost Monday to Northumberland, I was a little worried about this game. However, after I gave Daughter her highly embarrassing, pregame, good-luck kiss, I knew it was all going to turn out fine.  And it did.

2.  These are more shots from J&M Marina in Deltaville.

3.  I just finished reading the book Born to Run by Christopher McDougall and am seriously contemplating a New Year's resolution that involves signing up for a full marathon. I am also very glad I never spent more than $50 on a pair of running shoes, because the gist of the book is we were born with everything we need for distance running, all we have to do is get out there and do it.  Too much support and cushioning throws off our natural stride.  I was also highly intrigued by the Tarahumara Indians studied in the book.  But that's a topic for another day, outside of a blog that's supposed to be about Mathews.

That's it from me.  If you have something--or two things or three things or more things--to share, please do so.  If you are still wondering why a grown adult would squish whateverisonyourmind together and then make it plural and then write it down and hit the "publish" button on her blog without batting an eye, join the club.  Let's blame it on another long day and the fear of starting the Christmas decorating, which hangs like the sagging branch of a Charlie Brown Christmas tree over my entire existence.

Great photos, CBW.

This time of the year is enough to make anyone say anything, especially when there are many things to be done not to mention Christmas decorating!

Another storm arrives. I'd better turn the computer off at the wall. There have been a few good electrical storms around lately. Accompanied by hail! It has been a very warm day at 34 Celsius here.

Last day of school for many kids here for the long summer holidays. That means meeting up with more grandchildren...and minding two grandchildren twice a week instead of one!!

1. So, I'm a grandmother now. Actually, I became one at nearly the precise time I see Annie posted her comment. I only noticed because I was confused seeing the date and time thinking somehow someone posted something about it. But I think it's the exhaustion clouding my brain.

2. I'm having a hard time coming up with anything else though when I started typing I had about 4-5 things in my head.

3. I used boxing out skills during the delivery to make sure someone who deserved to be an active part of the delivery was. (thought I'd throw in the basketball terminology there- congrats on the win)

1. Congratulations, Jamie!!
2. Annie, you must be from south of the Equator!
3. Glad you have found a passion for running, CBW. It isn't my thing but I totally admire anyone who can do it.
4. We're expecting an ice storm this weekend! Batten down the hatches, whatever those are...

Congratulations, Jamie. I think your grandson was still in the pre-delivery stages the last time I saw a post on Facebook. Wonderful, wonderful, and I'm sure Ethan will be a fabulous uncle.
Annie, I have experienced 34 Celsius and I have experienced hail, but never together. You do things in a most mysterious way down there.
CBW, I wish you well with the marathon idea. I'd love to be there to cheer you on.
Meg, I've battened down a hatch or two in my time, when I was much much younger and foolish enough to crew on a sailboat. Ice storms are so awful, the only thing to do is stay inside because walking outside is so dangerous.
We have lots of snow here. Last night, Lindy and I watched some deer leaving our yard after visiting our ornamental crabapple tree for food. Lindy gets very excited about seeing the deer. She doesn't bark at them, but she "purrs" and that alerts me to look out the window. I'm sure she imagines herself bounding through the snow with them.

Congrats to Jamie..sounds like you are a grandmother for the first time. Wonderful. Sorry to have confused you. ;-)
Yes, being south of the Equator does confuse things a little. The weather among other things!
